2005 Murano started out making a high pitched whining sound when the AC was on. Now the sound is constant even when the AC is off. The faster i go the faster the progression of the whining. help .

Change the belt , squirt a lil lube just in the bearing areas of all pulleys , and tensioners.

The air conditioner compressor is driven by the engine. The compressor itself has a pully on it that is mounted to an electric clutch, When the Air condition is no on, the pulley still rotates on the shaft but the clutch is not engaged so the compressor does not turn. If the whole assembly is starting to wear then the bearings in the pulley will whine. Due to the the heat that builds up from this, the dealer or service tech will replace the whole compressor and the clutch, You are looking at a cost of near 2 thousand dollars.

It could be many things but if is changes with engine speed, the first thing to check would be the transmission fluid level.

Whenever I turn on my AC in my 2005 Nissan Murano it starts to make a whinning noise. And the whinning noise persist even without the AC being on What can cause this?
a bad belt but also you can add a small can of PAC oil into your AC freon via charge port same as adding freon or 134A just oil and they also carry R134A refrig with PAC oil in it. charge your system a little and add oil also if your AC is doing the whining

When I start my Nissan Murano 2005, it makes a loud whining noise. After it warms up it stops whining while idle, however when I press down on the gas I can hear a faint whine.
sounds like a belt slipping. I would have that checked by a local garage!

High pitch whining sound from engine
Check the power steering fluid if its low it could cause this. Also could be alternator, water pump, ac compressor, or idler pulley. My bet would be on the idler pulley, its the one that keeps the belt tension constant. Remove the belt and check this pulley for slack also spin it by hand.

Vacume line off of transmission won't alow high gear and at that speed the tranny starts screaming for relief. Find the vucume line and make sure its good and connected at both ends

Same problem: a high pitch whine after extended driving
Sounds like a dry/failing bearing or power steering pump noise. You first need to try to track down where the noise is originating, and the most likely place is at the front of the engine.
I would start by listening with the hood up while parked with the engine running and the noise present, and seeing if it is coming from there. If so, the most likely cause is something connected to the belt - e.g. AC compressor clutch, tensioner, power steering pump, or generator. Can also be caused by the belt just slipping (warn out belt, tensioner not working properly).

Rear end whining
if you have a constant whine that raises pitch the faster you go, you have improper backlash adjustment in the differential (rear end), if you have a whooping noise that whoops faster as you drive faster then you have a bad wheel bearing, both can be the result of low fluid level in the rear end.

High pitch whistling noise in engine compartment of 2005 envoy
There may be a small hole or cut in a vacum line or possibly just loose. Also make sure the air filter box and the big hose to it are secure and clamps etc are tight. Pulleys and belts can make a high pitch sound also.

High Pitch whine during acceleration
Hi Pullerwife,

I have a few suggestions for you,

First of all, check your air filter, make sure its clean, not clogged, and doesn't need to be changed.

I don't know how handy you are, but if you are fairly handy, check the idler pulley bearings, if your not, have a shop check it out, as a last resort.

Power steering pump/fluid being low is also a possibility, but thats usually more of a lower pitched whine then what you describe.

You say once the vehicle is warmed up, the whining stops. Does Weather seem to be a factor as well?
