I/P fuse panel 50A drawing power after its off

2000 ranger 3.0l fuse has a steady draw on it. what should I look at/ for? Sam jones

    Look at wiring diagrams of all circuits that fuse powers up , then pull fuse's for those other circuits one at a time till draw goes away . Then you'll find the problem

Power distribution box 50 amp fuse draws battery down have to remove when parked

Does the 50A fuse happen to go to the alternator? Try disconnecting the battery cable from the alternator with the 50A fuse plugged in. If the draw goes away, you need a new alternator.

Battery drain, fuse #12 in 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

On the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee the # 15 fuse is the IOD circuit. (Ignition Off Drain) The # 12 fuse is the power windows. Both fuses are 50 amp.

This IOD fuse #15 powers the distribution box that contains the 50 amp fuse. Pull each fuse in the under hood.

Pull each fuse in the under dash. Check for on the passenger side floor is an additional fuse panel.

Before going to far suggest at night checking for any lights lit. The draw is about right for a small light bulb.

Typical draw for parked car is around 100 milliamps

Suggest that you disconnect power to the car for several minutes. Reconnect the battery. The object is to reset the body electronics module.

If the computers in the modules get a glitch they can cause a drain. By cycling the power, disconnecting battery, they will reset to factory settings. Reported it can take up to 20 minutes for the circuits to drain before you can reset!.

the following web site does a great job of explaining all that is going on. What appears to be simple to troubleshoot is not so easy. He comments about delay before sleep are important. Testing after overnight may result in a different drain rate. Make sure that your battery meets specifications. In 2000 the drain rate may be relatively high and the reserve capacity of your battery low.

Underhood fusebox fuse #13 50 amp what is it for

The large MAXI fuses in the engine compartment fuse block are the MAIN fuses. They supply voltage to several other fuses or circuits.

MAXI Fuse #13 in your 1996 Ford Ranger is supposed to be a 30 Amp fuse (not a 50 Amp) according to the power distribution diagrams as well as the fuse block detail diagram. This fuse supplies voltage to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) power relay and to the oxygen sensor heater circuits.

Please note that it is NORMAL for this fuse to cause a draw on the battery during vehicle operation and also after engine shut down. The OBD-2 oxygen sensor heater circuit monitors run after engine shut down and key off. This can take up to 45 minutes to complete. After the O2 heater monitor has run, the PCM will go into sleep mode.

When the PCM goes into sleep mode, the battery draw from this fuse will be reduced greatly. If you are performing "ignition-off-draw" tests trying to figure out why the battery keeps going dead, it is best to use an ammeter that has a 1 or 2 amp scale. You should set-up for the test using a shunt bar. Wait for 45 minutes to an hour for all of the computer systems in the vehicle to go into sleep mode, then open the shunt. Your computer memory, radio pre-sets, clock, etc. will continue to draw without ever shutting completely off. Any draw under 300 Milliamps is considered "acceptable". It is my experience that most vehicles have an ignition-off-draw of somewhere near 150 Milliamps.

I need a fuse diagram for my 2003 ford ranger 2.3L engine

I don't know if this will help you but here are the location numbers. Can't figure out how to copy a picture of the box itself. I do have an entire owners manual I could send you as a PDF if you need it. Hope this helps. Good luck.

My 2000 chevy blazer is having battery issues.i have had the battery a year and replaced the altinator a year ago,and something keeps draining the battery.I can't seem to figure this one out

if you have an volt meter capable of reading amperage you can check for a draw fairly easily.

Turn off the vehicle, remove the key, unplug any accessories from the 12 volt (cigarette) outlets, and disable the under hood light if equipped.

Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. Install your amp meter in series, one lead on the negative terminal of the battery and one lead on the negative terminal of the battery cable. You should see less than .050 amps. It may take up to 20 minutes for everything to power down so don't worry if you see more right away.

If after 20 minutes it does not drop lower than .050 amps you have a draw. You can start removing fuses from the underhood fuse block one at a time. If the draw goes away than you have just narrowed down the possibilities to that circuit. Post what fuse you pulled and I can help you further.

If none of those fuses cancel the draw remove one of the test leads. Open the drivers front door and remove the courtesy lamp fuse from the instrument panel fuse block located behind the access panel on the end of the left side of the dash. Reinstall test leads and then start removing those fuses one at a time.

1996 GRAND CHEROKEE BATTERY DRAWING 400 MILLIAMPS

Pretty good chance that your 50A fuse feeds the fuse block inside the car. To test, pull the fuse & check fuse block for power. If I'm right, then start by replacing main fuse and pulling individual fuses on block, till draw disappears. then check which system that fuse feeds. most common: glovebox light lid not closed all the way or interior light malfunction. However, control modules can give similar results.

2000 blazer drawing power

I would start by looking at the cigarette lighter. Sometimes they build up such a large amount of corrosion that it actually can cause a draw on the battery.
