I have a ol fuel fault above 3000 rpm

If your standing still in park it wont rev past 3000 rpm as its got a limiter on it And only revs past 3000 rpm in drive on the move.

I recently had the same problem with my transit connect.
Does the power judder at all?
The fault turned out to be the fuel pump.

run fault codes and check for speed limiter related fault

check that there is an engine max rpm limiter in the ECM . If there is run fault codes and look far a faulty Rev counter sensor

Hi Tom your vehicle is equipped with a Rev limiter it will not allow you to rev the engine above 4000 with the trans in park; as for the first problem you may have one of two things, one of the spark plugs or spark plug wires is bad or you have a flat spot on the throttle positioning sensor in which case have be replaced. There is a rev limiter in these cars that disallows over revving in park or neutral. Does it climb past 2700 under hard acceleration?

fuel pump pressure too low.causing lean mixture .

does it get worse as it runs? this would indicate exhaust problem. could be mass air flow
