Re: Engine crank but won't start on a 1993 Nissan...
When your engine cranks but won't start or run, it could mean your engine is having trouble producing a spark, getting fuel, or creating compression. The most common causes are problems in the ignition (for example, a bad ignition coil) or fuel system (for example, a clogged fuel filter). However, the source may also be a mechanical fault (for example, a leaking valve), or faulty components in other systems.

If its the VQ 3.0 V6 then the ignition timing is done through the ECU via timing sensors. Here is a web site that has workshop manuals you can download for free. I have downloaded them for my 97 Nissan Maxima. https://manuals.co/workshop/nissan/maxima
You will need to get the car plugged with a diagnostic computer to see what is engine is saying.
It could be number of things. it could have blocked one of your fuel injector which is causing the car to misfire.
IF YOU GOT 2 SETS OF KEYS TRY ANOTHER IGNITION KEY.THAT NOT WORN.TURN ON IGNITION FOR 5 SECONDS.SWITCH THE IGNITION OFF.WAIT APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS.SWITCH IGNITION ON FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS.SWITCH IGNITION OFF.WAIT APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS.START ENGINE.IF STARTS OTHER KEY WAS WORN.IF CAR STILL DONT CRANK.THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACE KEYS AND ANTI THEFT SYSTEM AND REPROGRAM TO CRANK.ALSO CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE NEUTRAL START BACK UP LIGHT SWITCH IS WORKING.IF FAULTY IT WILL ALSO CAUSE NO START PROBLEMS.
Yes this could be caused by the Nissan NATS system. Your keys may need to be initilized for the car. Is the SECURITY light on steady, or is it flashing?? Check it. If its steady, than the NATS locked you out and you will not start the car. If its flashing, than NATS should be all set and the car should start. MAke sure, that you are using initilized keys.
