2007 Honda CR-V. Interior dome light stays on when door shut and switch on "door." Light always stays off in off position and on in on position. But when on door setting, it stays on after door closed. Tried pressing the switch in driver door jam and light dims/flickers but doesn't go off. All other interior lights work fine. Need new switch? Blown fuse for just one light?
You need a replacement door switch.

Testimonial: "Great. Part ordered. I was pretty sure was door jamb switch but wanted confirmation."
Bad news. New door jamb switch installed. Dome light still stays on. When I push sensor button in, dome light dims slightly, same as old sensor. I tested all four door sensors the same way with the same result. Dome light dims slightly.
So door sensors not the problem. What else could cause dome light to stay on? The switch on light itself does turn light on and off. Keeping off so don't drain battery by staying on. I am not getting any open door light on dash instrument.
I may have discovered bigger problem. I had my cracked windshield replaced 8 months ago at a glass windshield shop. When I picked up car I noticed installers cracked plastic piece on dash covering radio/DVD. They ordered replacement from Honda and put in a week later. I complained that a piece of weather stripping was loose at the bottom of driver's side windshield. They said "no big deal."
I was just now out cleaning windshield and noticed the weather stripping on driver's side windshield was loose and seperated from that beam. Inside are wires for driver's air bag I think. I found mud and dirt caked in and connectors out of socket. Rain has been leaking in there for months. So quite possible I had no air bag connection for months.
I will get to Honda Tuesday (Monday is Holiday). This is serious. And I was rear-ended 2 days ago while stopped at red light. I was thinking "good thing not hard enough to explode air bag". Punched a hole in my rear bumper and my tailpipe left a round indentation on their front bumper. Smashed in their grill and big damage around their driver's side headlight. Already got estimate for new bumper and exhaust system inspected because tailpipe struck.
Is this possible cause of dome light problem? Electrical connection messed up because that weather stripping loose and wires exposed to rain.
Bad news indeed. The interior lights may be controlled by the body control module. I would say that at this stage, you need the diagnostic skills from a good local, auto-electrician. They can connect it to a high level scan tool.

This mentions a unit under the dash

Yes, that does sound likely. Modules need to be kept dry and vibration free. Get Honda to fix all the bad items, windshield sealing, that MICU module under the dash as well as the crash damage. Ask if they will do you a deal and a report to give to the windshield place, with a view to recovering the cost.
