If this is on a UK vehicle the first place to look is the lower right hand corner of the windscreen, looking from the outside. There should be a copy of it visible just under the glass. Another place to look is down in the step area on the driver's side, (Right side of the vehicle as you drive). Open the door on the right side of the vehicle. On the lower step 'kick' panel, (the area usually hidden by the closed door), there should be a small rectangular plastic cover plate. It should hook out using a small screwdriver to reveal the VIN.

1979 ford chateau camper van. I am looking for the proper make model based on my VIN S24HHEE0215 to be able to insure my van. It has a 351

Ford dealer should be able to supply the base vehicle information you need or you could search the various sites that provide information about decoding Ford VIN.

Somewhere your vehicle should have an option, specification or code plate with various groups of numbers/letters. This too can be decoded and contains information about the equipment fitted when an option existed, such as drive axle ratio/type, whether heavy duty filtration is fitted, heavy duty cooling, high centre of gravity suspension pack and all manner of surprising things.
There is often also a plate listing the maximum axle weights, the maximum gross vehicle weight and the maximum train weight.

The commercial vehicle market is somewhat different from the car market. If you want a large van or a truck and order it rather than buying what the dealer has in stock, you can specify many options to make it suitable for particular work or for operating in difficult territory.

My 2007 hyundai entrouage vin number is coming up a kia. and need to get proof that it is a hyundai.i need some thing that says that even thought it comes up kia it is a hyundai

Did you purchase this van new? If not, have you ran a carfax or carcheck vin number history report on this car? All Hyundai vehicles have their own manufacturer prefix in the VIN; Hyundai is- KM8, and KMH. Kia is- KNA, KNB, and KNC. They are the most popular prefixes for Hyundai/Kia produced minivans in South Korea. If this van has Hyundai emblems on the exterior, and on the horn pad, I would be very suspicious of what happend to it. If the VIN is decoding a Kia, you have problems. Either this Hyundai van was stolen, and someone used a Kia VIN plate on it, or you have a Kia van that was totaled in an accident, and was reconstructed from Hyundai van parts. Check the drivers door manufacturer label, there should be a VIN on that sticker as well, and should match what your VIN plate behind the windshield states. (You could be reading the VIN over the phone to someone, and they are getting the M's and N's mixed up, or the B and 8. KM8, and KNB look similar.) Have someone else look at the numbers for you, just to be sure. Good luck! Hope this helps!
