Check for a big fuse on the positive battery lead.

Lots of idea here. Hopefully, our Ford Expert Pro Technician will be along soon.

If it is the fuse, when the tow truck driver was here, and connected to a charger, would that bypass the fuse and give power to the cabin?

They have 3 Fuses boxes and in the engine compartment 'Power distribution box', there are 4 called 'Vehicle Power'.

No, if there is a main fuse on the battery positive terminal and it blew, a charger on the battery would only charge the battery. A blown fuse would break the circuit to everything.

Similar tale on a 2020, except this one DID have a flat battery. The Escape is a highly over electronically engineered vehicle!

Thank you for all your help, I'm going to have to have the dealer look at it. Not seeing a fuse in the pos cable on
the battery. And once when I was down in the states, I was driving and got an error message that no key was
present. Thinking this is more to do with the brain box than a fuse maybe?? Let them get it running right, then
going to get a different vehicle. It's a beautiful vehicle, but beauty isn't going to get me back and forth to work.

Yes, that is the best plan in my opinion. It has a Can-Bus, which is a whole computer system controlling modules all over the place. If you want reliability, look at Lexus RX350, I love my ES330. There is also a big one, I think the GX460, but it is huge. I was at the launch at the dealership event.

Fixya moderation team, you say to recategorize this, but I've tried and theres nothing in the drop down that fits . Remove it if you want.

    No Marie
There is nothing from the Moderation Team. That is me in this case :>) You are in exactly the right category of Ford Escape. All the posts have a 'Recategorize' button, but yours doesn't need it, that is why there is nothing in the menu. Hope that explains.

In my upper right corner on the notification bell, there is a notice form them telling me to recategorize it. ?? or maybe they did??

I see, that's odd, but then this site is like your Escape, over-engineered and glitchy. :>D If you want to play with it, you can recategorize it to Miscellaneous (Misc), and then back to Ford Escape.

Just wanted to update you, got it to the dealership, (I must say I am more furious now than I was because it had
no power) Brand new battery completely dead, (tell me something I didn't know) and get this, being they didn't
know the cause, maybe it's your key causing it or you need to drive it more than once a week. ?????
Now, ok fair enough, but tell me, why when I was driving do I get the message "No key found" although it keeps
running and am able to drive home? "blank stare" I dunno was his response. I am not about to replace my battery
twice a year because of "I don't know"! We also have a 2015 same make and model no issues. I've sent an email
to Ford and after being a Ford owner for nearly 50 yrs, I will never purchase their products ever again.

Wow, that is really bad of a Ford Dealership! They have scan tool computers and they have access to Ford datasheets on all issues and error codes. A battery should stay fully charged for at least a month, never mind a week.

The 'No Key Detected' error message seems a common know issue. Videos in the link Marie.

Fix it and get rid of it. An auto-electrician might be the best bet.

Ford Escape 2003 new starter and battery turn over but still drags

Check all terminal connections. I would return the battery and have them check it, even if it is new. I have had this happen to me with a new battery. Next I would have the starter checked. Fully charge the battery with an external charger. Leave it disconnected over night. Reconnect the battery and try to start the vehicle. If it is slow to turn, the battery could have a bad cell in it. Fully charge it before you return it to the store to be checked.

Fully charging a bad battery is a waste of time as the bad cell discharges internally. Best have a load test done on the battery to eliminate it first.

Battery is DEAD on 2003 Ford Escape! Door key (using an actual key) unlock is also motorized, which needs battery juice. I can't get into this car! I thought about putting jumper cables on the sta

Open the door manually with the key!

Many Ford Escapes have power door locks as standard equipment. This system consists of a lock switch, lock actuator and wiring harness. When you depress the lock switch, it sends an electronic signal through the harness to the actuator. The actuator moves an internal piston that either pulls the actuator hook down or pushes it up. The actuator hook connects to the lock rod, which either locks or unlocks the door, depending on which way you push the lock button. While this system won't work with a dead battery, the mechanical lock system remains unaffected by electrical power loss.

Insert the door lock key into the driver's door lock.
Turn the key counterclockwise one quarter turn.
Pull the door handle up until the Escape's door opens. Once the driver door is open, simply open the remaining doors by pulling the interior door handles until the doors open.

I recently did not pass my auto inspection with the new Interstate Battery I recently purchased for my 2002 Ford Escape. I was told that I need to drive 150 more miles before all aspects of the battery...

NO - sounds like the battery needs to be charged - a new fully charged battery will measure 12.6 volts - if you are not getting this voltage then the battery is not fully charged - driving the vehicle will charge the battery if the charging system is working correctly, but the battery should have been fully charged when you purchased it - batteries will loose charge sitting on a shelf and the best shops keep the batteries they have for sale charged weekly if they don't sell them faster than that - good luck :O)

My 2008 Ford Escape has power. Lights work, wipers, everything works that has power but when I try to turn the key to start it nothing happens. I mean I don't even hear a clicking noise

Check the relays and fuses in the Power Distribution box under the hood. If all are good check the Alarm circuit ignition kill switch. If you didn't get the Alarm built into the vehicle but had it installed after you bought it remove the fuse from the Alarm power line to disable the kill switch. I did have this problem once and it turned out to be the battery on mine, a 2005 with Alarm built in. Unless you have the Hybrid version you could get in 2008 the vehicles are basically the same.

Escape doesn't start, battery is ok, 12.6v. starter does turn over, but vehicle doesn't start, what could i look for?

Put a charger on the battery overnight first, yours is a little low. Put the charger on a trickle charge, about 2 amps. A fully charged battery should be at least 13.5 up to 1.2v. It could be that there is enough power to turn it over but not provide power for spark.
If this works, then you need to get your charging system looked at to see why it's not keeping the battery fully charged. The battery may be weak which will show up in a "load test". Your alternator may be starting to wear out or the belt could be stretching and starting to slip or you may have something staying on, when the truck is turned off, that is drawing power. It could also be that the starter is drawing more power because it is starting to wear as well.
Try these and see how it goes. Hope this helps.

When i turn the key the escape wont start it just makes a clicking noise?

That noise is probably the starter solenoid rattling because the battery charge is low. Start out with a jump or make sure the battery is fully charged up.
