if you follow the big hose that comes off the left hand side of the intake manifold it leads downward to the side mounted intercooler. The MAP sensor is bolted onto the inner side of the intercooler. You have to unscrew the inner wheel well cover on that side and remove the front fender to get in there to the intercooler area. You can take the front wheel off or turn it full one way to get better access. The intercooler sits on the side of the car and fits between the turbocharger (mounted on the back of the engine) and the intake manifold. I'm sure there's a diy somewhere - probably a DIY for changing boost hoses.

Remove front body section and move lock carrier to service position
Remove retaining clamps from A/C hoses near condenser
Unbolt A/C condenser from radiator and support condenser with wire or heavy duty tie wraps Note: Do not discharge the A/C refrigerant. Support the A/C condenser with wire and avoid stretching or kinking the hoses.
Remove radiator mounting bolts from both sides and slide radiator slightly to the rear
There are two coolant temp sensors. One by the oil filler tube and one near the bottom radiator hose near the radiator. When you flushed the coolant did you replace with VW rated G12 coloant? Very Important! - You can't use over the counter coolant - it'll cause sludge in your system. You have to use G12...
You've lost engine coolant somewhere, and need to fill the engine back up with the VW special G12 coolant.
Then find the leak, which will be in one or more of the following places - Water hoses to heater core, including any other coolant carrying hoses in the engine compartment Radiator hoses Plastic manifold bolted to side of engine which is known to leak (have replaced on an '01 VW Beetle, and an '02 Jetta, both members of our family in the past few years.). Overflow reservoir cracked Radiator leak.
Reply back what you find. If the engine got too hot, you may need to have the thermostat replaced.
Its to the right of the water pump towards the bottom of the engine.. Follow your lower radiator hose. Make sure to get some G12 coolant from VW before you do it. If you mix the coolants they turn into a gel that will cause you to overheat.
