I bought a 2003 GMC Envoy there is a aftermarket remote start on it l. When I got the truck I was only given the key and the Viper fob which locked and unlocked the doors and started the truck.. When you hit lock twice it locks all the doors and the horn honks like when you set a factory alarm.. But if you reach in and unlock the car without the key or key fob and open the door the alarm does not go off... I came across a factory key fob and programed it to the truck and it works to lock and unlock the doors makes the horn sound when you double click lock but again same thing if you open the car without key or key fob no alsrm... I assume the factory alarm was somehow bypassed when they installed the remote start is there a way I can make the factory alarm work when the doors are opened without key,? Panic button works normally as well...
To arm content theft alarm.
1. Open the door.
2. Lock the door with the power door lock switch or
the remote keyless entry transmitter. The
SECURITY light should flash.
3. Close all doors. The SECURITY light should go off
after approximately 30 seconds. The alarm is not
armed until the SECURITY light goes off.
If a locked door is opened without the key or the remote keyless entry transmitter, the alarm will go off. The headlamps and parking lamps will flash for two minutes, and the horn will sound for 30 seconds, then will turn off to save the battery power.
