code p0446 refers to evaporative emission (EVAP) system--vent control--circuit malfunction===causes wiring--EVAP canister purge valve--ECM
Code p0441 is evap system--incorrect flow detected==causes --hose connections --intake leak--EVAP canister purge valve
replace the purge valve as it is common to both codes

there is no evap "switch". there are a few components that make up the evap system

1. Purge solenoid
2. Vent solenoid
3. Charcoal canister
4. Tank Pressure sensor
5. Misc. vacuum lines and hoses.

Need to find and replace the DPFE-15 sensor. Dealership diagnosed when service engine light came on and saaid this is what needed replacing. Problem is I do not know where to find it on the engine.

  • reintroduce exhaust gas into the combustion cycle.
  • lower combustion temperatures.
  • reduce the formation of oxides or nitrogen (NOX).
The amount of exhaust gas reintroduced and the timing of the cycle varies by calibration. Timing and volume are controlled by the following:
  • engine rpm
  • engine vacuum
  • exhaust system back pressure
  • engine coolant temperature
  • air charge temperature
  • throttle position
The EGR valve (EGR valve) (9D475) is vacuum-actuated. The vacuum hose routing diagram is shown on the Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) decal. The EGR system is a differential pressure feedback EGR Sensor system. Differential pressure feedback EGR Sensor is a subsonic closed loop EGR system. The differential pressure feedback EGR system:
  • monitors EGR flow rate by the pressure drop across the metering orifice located in the EGR tube.
  • uses a differential pressure feedback EGR sensor as the feedback device.
  • uses the EGR valve only as a pressure regulator, rather than a flow metering device.
  • controlled pressure is varied by the valve movement using vacuum output of the EGR vacuum regulator solenoid (9J459).
  • allows for a more accurate assessment of EGR flow requirements.

  1. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring (12A581) from Differential Pressure Feedback EGR Sensor.
  1. Disconnect Differential Pressure Feedback EGR Sensor hoses from EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube (9D477).
  1. Remove retaining nuts or bolts (depending upon application) and EGR Differential Pressure Feedback transducer.
Installation
  1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
  1. Tighten retaining nuts or bolts (depending upon application) to 5-7 Nm (45-61 lb-in).

this is a difficult question to answer without knowing your model, engine, or year. There is a emission control diagram under the hood showing the location of most components. You can check with the autozone.com website. They have a tutorial for most common repairs.

I DONT KNOW WHERE MY EVAP PURGE SYSTEM IS LOCATED AT ON MY 2004 DODGE INTREPID I NEVER SEEN ONE B4, BUT I TOOK THE EMISSIONS TEST AND A CODE CAME BACK PO441 IT CAUSED ME TO FAIL THE TEST I NEED TO GET THIS...

Yep the P0441 is : The evaporative emission control bad purge flow. You wont be able to run the component test for this issue without a good scan-tool of component tester. It may have to do with the flow control valve. It should be located next to the charcoal canister.
