I was asked to look at a 2008 Saturn Vue that was overheating due to the fans not coming on. When I looked at it I discovered that there was a "hot wire" jumped off of the ECM fuse leading directly to the fan plug. When I asked the owner he said his buddy did that to get the fans to work. I did explain that should not have been done and Can see heat warping on the fuse for the ECM because of the hot wire. The vehicle would start and run at idle with the hot wire connected, however when I removed the hot wire the vehicle will not start. I will need to address the no start condition, before I can determine the root cause of the overheating. But the shoddy guy who hotwired the fan has made my job more difficult. I was thinking the ECM may have been damaged from the jumper wire but if I reconnect it the vehicle will start and run. I'm a little confused on where to begin..

While trying to start my 2008 saturn vue, the key turns but nothing happens and then it locks up the ignition, no power to electrical system either.
since you stated that fans are not running and your overheating and temp went down when you idled in neutral check sensor for fans and fuses if the fans dont come on no air comes across the radiator to cool down the fluid when ur driving some air get across but not enough --
2008 Saturn Vue rear wiper blade: Pop off the cover over the bolt that comes out of the rear window. Unscrew the nut. Now you can remove the assembly. Give the old wiper a tug and pull it out. Snap in a new 11-inch wiper. Replace the assembly, bolt and cover.
It could be anything. Take the vehicle to Auto Zone and ask them to connect a code reader to the vehicle. That will tell you what the fault is. The most common issue is the Oxygen Sensor.
