I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am that recently had front end damage repaired. I was happy to learn the the entire headlight unit (cover, housing, bulbs etc.) was replaced. My happiness was short lived because I quickly discovered that my high beams are dimmer than the low beams. They are so dim that they’re basically useless. I’m not sure dim is correct. They seem to wrap around the side of the road with most of the light being at the top of the trees. Like I said, they were just installed by a reputable service center so it makes me think that it’s not an alignment issue. What else could be causing it?

The bulb maybe installed upside down reflecting the light beam upwards instead of downwards.
Take it back and have it fixed under their warranty.

There should be separate relays for the low and high beams. located in the fuse box, probably under the hood. they look like plug-in small rectangular black boxes.

2003 Pontiac Grand Am brights work but ONE low beam is out ...

You most likely need a new low beam headlight BULB.It has the low and high beam in it and the separate high beam has only high.
You SHOULD have 2 tabs ,one at each end to pull up and the headlight assembly should then come out easily.
Tapping a blown out headlight can reattach the filament for a short time but after that replacement is necessary.

How to change headlight lamp in 2005 Pontiac g6

To change the bulbs you need to first remove the 5 plastic pop screws on the front bumper. They're spread out at the top of the bumper right under the hood. Once you get those out, you have to remove the two hex bolts on each headlight. Then it gets tricky. You need to pull the light towards the front of the car until it pops out of the ball-bearing type mount on the fender. Once that pops out, you have to pull the front bumper forward while maneuvering the headlight out towards the front.

As per the manual it says as follows:---

Open the hood.

Hold the headlamp to prevent damage to the headlamp or to the fascia. Remove the bolts from the headlamp assembly. Remove the push-in-retainers across the front fascia. Remove the headlamp assembly. Lift the headlamp upward to release the locating tab from the front edge of the fender.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the headlamp assembly.

Remove the headlamp bulb access cover by rotating the headlamp bulb access cover counterclockwise, if necessary.

Remove the headlamp bulb from the housing by rotating the socket counterclockwise, if necessary.

Disconnect the headlamp bulb electrical connector, if necessary.

Remove the park/turn bulb access cover by rotating the cover counterclockwise, if necessary.

Remove the park/turn bulb from the housing by rotating the socket counterclockwise, if necessary.

Gently pull the park/turn bulb from the socket, if necessary. Install the park/turn bulb into the bulb socket.

Install the park/turn bulb socket into the headlamp housing by rotating the socket clockwise.

Install the park/turn bulb access cover by rotating the cover clockwise.

Connect the headlamp bulb to the headlamp electrical connector.

Install the headlamp bulb into the headlamp housing. Rotate the socket clockwise until locked.

Install the headlamp bulb access cover by rotating the cover clockwise.

Position the headlamp assembly to the vehicle. Lift the headlamp upward to release the locating tab to the front edge of the fender.

Install the bolts to the headlamp assembly. Tighten the bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

Install the push-in-retainers across the front fascia.

Close the hood.

Replace headlight bulb

Actually there are two little black tabs on top of each headlight housing and you simply have to pull them up to release the whole headlamp.

Then follow the rest of emissionwiz's solution.
