The fuseable link that is on it should protect the vehicles electrical at three places one for ignition switch a second for starter control and third for charging control ,The one on the positve is for the charging system

Trying to take negative clamp off battery, pos came off easy. seems to turn after i took the bolt off but just will not open enough to release off the battery. any ideas?

using a screw driver or chisel, find the small line where the battery clamp is joined in half. Put the screw driver or chisel on this line and strike with a hammer firmly. This will spread the clamp out. Also soak it in CRC or similar. You can also use the screw driver as a lever underneath the clamp. Ensure the positive lead is well away from where you are working. It is a good idea to wrap both the positive lead and positive terminal in masking tape to prevent any arcing out.

make sure it is full of coolant, next check for a bad fan relay, to see if fans are ok! run a wire from positve post on battery to positive on fan motor, ground other side if need be. if fans do not work they are bad, if they do work, check relay to fan and coolant tempurature sensor if needed.

hello
this style of alt has an internal regulator and these alt. have had a long history of the wiring plug burning up. the one that plugs into the alt. and have started some fires so be careful.
this alt is called a 2G
most auto part houses will have replacement harnesses

I need to know what colors mean what, so i can hook my cd player up

Red - Power
Yellow - primary power must be joined to the red
blue - Remote
Black - ground or negative
To find your speaker wires check the color of the cord behind each speaker than match it with the same color in the dash.
or the easy way is to use a normal 1.5v penlight battery and try each speaker cord behind the dash and listen to which speaker give off a crackling noise so you can get the balance on the cd player right.
If u trying to find power in the car and don't have a tester than get a 12v light or bulb join the negative to the body and push the positive wire into each one of the holes in the factory plug in the dash one at a time until the light comes on. That is your positive the rest is easy. (DIY guru)

large wire off starter will go to positve battery, the small yellow/red wire should go to the starter solenoid, and the battery should be hooked up like a nornal setup please rate -jeff

voltage is the power supply. you always run atleast a 10/12 ga wire to positive side of battery. also remember that will also need a ground. keep the color code for positve voltage to either red or yellow for positive and black or white for ground.

disconnect power, with dvom ( volt meter) check for continuity in wire that was spliced. possible bad connection.
