You need a new battery then. Or look at the wires. Do they all connect?

SOURCE: starter makes whinning noise on 97 camarro

Make sure that starter wears a condom.

If you meant that the starter makes a high-pitched whine but does not turn the engine, that starter is bad. More specifically, its drive (the "Bendix") is bad.

If the starter makes a screeching noise as it turns the engine, like it is working too hard and is irritated about the situation, you need to shim the starter. There are shims available at the parts store that fit around the mounting bolts, between the starter and the block. They are used to ensure that the starter drive gear teeth are not too close to the ring gear. If they are too close, the starter has to work much harder as it forces the teeth to mesh.

If you meant that the starter makes a whining noise for a short while after you start the engine, don't worry. Many starters do that.

If you meant that the starter makes a loud whine constantly after you have started the engine, it is staying engaged. It is either bad and that is the source of the problem, or there is another problem (like incorrect shimming) that caused it to stay engaged, and it is now bad. The same gear reduction that allows a small electric motor to spin a big heavy engine can work in reverse if the one-way clutch in the starter drive goes bad, and the high speeds that the starter guts would be subjected to if this happened would lead to self-destruction.

The batteries may show the full volts but the could be bad where they do not hold a full charge any longer. Same thing would happen with the rechargable RC car batteries. Sometimes a slow charge and a full drain a number of times would reguvinate the batteries.

SOURCE: battery fully charged, car wont start, cant remove key, 2004 cadillac cts

There is a magnetic switch on the 'park' position. The car only starts or releases the key in 'park' is enabled. Maybe this switch is not working! Try to replace it!

I have a Patterson Eventer golf buggy, it goes about 12 inches and stops abruptly in forward or reverse. What's wrong?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to golf.

Solenoid. (electro-magnetically operated switch)

What are the symptoms of a bad solenoid in a golf cart? On an electric golf cart, the most common symptom is the solenoid is not delivering electricity to the controller when the vehicle's ignition is turned on. In normal operating conditions, the solenoid clicks on and off with the ignition switch. A failing solenoid will generally not click.

If it clicks, it is more likely to be the accelerator potentiometer, basically the variable gas pedal. Great resource in the link for Golf Cart woes.

Patterson High lander Eventer golf buggy front Left wheel bearing getting hot to the touch any suggestions

Hello. It seems the left front wheel bearing is either 'over torqued' and/or low to no grease. These 'issues' will cause that wheel bearing to overheat. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

New here. I have inherited a Patterson eventer 4 golf buggy, new batteries, refurbished but has to be reassembled. Is there a wiring diagram for the batteries? Thanks Raymond McGee

Fitting batteries to any vehicle large or small you use the same basic rules.
You ALWAYS wire batteries positive to negative, (+ to -, or red to black).
You NEVER connect more than one wire to each battery terminal post.
The batteries on a golf buggy run in a basic 'serial' setup. You link the batteries together as a chain. The batteries and cables should 'snake' across the battery box with an open positive terminal post at one end and an open negative terminal post at the other end ready to connect to the correct leads on the buggy.

My golf buggy is breaking down about 17 holes into a round the batteries are 2yr old have put on metre And each battery shows 8.2 or 8.4 so i am baffled why it should run out of power.

Fully charge the buggy. I know I'm going back to basics here.
Try removing or disconnecting the batteries **one at a time**. Give the terminals and clamps a really good clean. Possibly give them a LIGHT rub with FINE sandpaper. I find a suede shoe brush works well for this job.
Once each battery is isolated test it's voltage. An 8 volt battery should read a strong 8.4 volts when fully charged.
Depending on how much use the buggy gets, batteries do get old and drop in performance. If you're still unsure get a good battery specialist to assess each one.

Why won't my electric club golf cart run? It makes a noise when I put it in drive or reverse & it won't move. I added some water & charged it & it seemed like it was doing fine until it shortly died.

Ok, first I hope u are putting distilled water in the battery, not just any water. Should not overfill it either. Looks like the electrolite ( sulfuric acid) in your golf cart had been diluted to the point where it doesnā€™t hold a charge. Also when u wipe all that stuff around the battery please wear gloves and safety goggles. Looks like u might need a new battery for your cart. Good luck!

Ez-go golf cart press accelerator pedal and nothing happens

The first thing I would do is lift the seat and check the battery connections. Those batteries are notorious for corrosion at the terminals. Make sure every connection is clean and solid, as in no loose, corroded or frayed battery cables. Next, if the batteries check out, toggle the run/tow switch, also under the seat to make sure it is fully engaged into the run position, and finally check the forward/reverse lever to make sure the connections are clean and tight.
