Oil leak to top of sparkplugs on a Holden Aster 1.8 2001. Its not the Head gasket. Coming from a screw hole in centre of head. Seams to be a air valve, with hole in center, ?

Hi Brian what you are describing is a little confusing however if you have oil in the spark plug holes the most likely cause would be the rocker cover gasket. Now this is not the head gasket but the cover that goes on top of the cylinder head. There are normally rubber O ring seals that are part of the sealing gasket they sometimes leak oil into the plug holes. Normally this is the only entrance for oil into spark plug holes. There is or should be a rubber seal at the top of each stalk of spark plug connector from the coil pack to stop water or oil entering the plug hole. However if oil is leaking at the breather pipe connected to the rocker cover there is a very slight possibility it may be leaking oil into the cavity of the coil pack and into the plug hole. This I have never seen as due to its design it would normally find its way down the side of the engine before the cavity for the coil pack. Good luck

What is causing this? my 2001 alero has misfire on cylinder 1, i have changed plugs, switched coil packs, it doesnt seem to get up to speed. what is the problem??

The compression could be too low to create the bang it needs, I have seen it a lot, try the connecting wiring harness first it might just have a bad connection, but it does sound like low compression

2001 Oldsmobile Alero, Overheating, no visible leaks, oil not milky, coolant mysteriously vanishes?

Well, I hate to break this to you but your coolant is leaving through your exhaust pipe. You may have a bad head gasket or your engine block may be cracked. Coolant is leaking into the cylinders and burning off when the engine fires and exiting through the exhaust.

My 2001 oldsmobile alero has a cylinder #4 misfire

The misfire can be caused by an open injector , injector pulg or circuit, bad spark plug ro wire lost compression as a burnt valve blown gasket ( antifrezze foulingthe sparplugs ) Low compression from overheating over mileage or flooding from injector leaking. Take out the number 4 plug and any other and compare what they look like if they don't look the same swich them and see if the miss moves to the cyclinder that the #4 plug moved to. If it does run good or misses on the new cyclinder change the spart plug with new and then look for loss of coolant or oil on plug wire carrect leak and try again
