SOURCE: Pass key light

That's exactly why it won't start. You can either switch the ingition lock back to the original one so you can use the right key. Or, you can sync the new key with the computer. To do this you or someone else will have to use a gm tech-2 scanner, snap-on modis or an otc genisys scanner. Your local dealer or good repair shop should be able to fix you up. Now, there is another way. The passkey system works on resistance from the chip. In you steering colum there is a 2-wire plug going to the ignition lock. If you pull it out of the colum and cut the plug off. You can pop the chip out of the original key and solder the wires to it. Just make sure you don't heat the chip up to much. After doing this you can use any $10 standard gm ignition lock instead of the expensive ones that use a chipped key.

SOURCE: Car won't start and when I put the key in the ignition the security light starts flashing

Replace ignition lock cylinder. The wires have broken that go to it.

SOURCE: 1993 buick lesabre won't start. security light is

The coded key probably needs to relearn. Turn ignition to crank and release. Let sit in on position (engine off of coarse) for a full 10 min. turn off for 30 sec. and repeat 3 times engine should start. This procedure should take 30 min. so a booster is needed to maintain a full 12 volts. Do not attempt w/out a charger connected;

SOURCE: how to hot wire a 93 buick lesabre

just google how to pass the vats system pass key , or remove the lower panle on the drivers side and look for a orange tube containing two white wires coming down from the steering colum get a ohms meter and and set it to 20 k and check the reading on your key by sticking a probe on each side of the key on the chip and find out the resistance value go to radio shack and by a resistor pack , cut the two wires leading to the fire wall and soulder your resister in between the two white wires you can be with in to points either way on the resister , i did this to put a remote start in my car and works great

Sercurity light on and wont start

Is there a chip in the key? If so try another key if you have one,if not you may have to replace
the key and tumbler.
The resistance in the key chip must match the tumbler,if the chip gets damaged the security
will disable the fuel and spark.

Put new alternator and battery in 1995 Buick Lesabre with key pass will turn over and run afew seconds but wont stay running

actually a pretty easy fix. The pass key computer lost its programming. Put the key in and leave it on with the security light flashing. Just turn off all your accessories and make sure battery is pretty good charge. Anyway after you leave the key on for ten minutes the security light will come on steady so turn key off and right back on and start car. If security light still starts blinking and car stalls then do it again. It will usually work the first time but can take a few times to get it right.

Need owners manual to see how to fix a problem with the security system. The key has a chip and somehow it won't start the car Mechanic thinks it is in the security system related to the chip in the key...

The chip is part of the PASS-II security system. It is designed to prevent engine being started with another key. It is part of the security system. When you insert key and turn the ignition to the on or start position, does the security light in dash panel flash? Unfortunately, there is no way to by-pass or turn it off. Also, the key and chip must be completely dry and clean. Contact your nearest GM dealership or a locksmith who can service the PASS-II system to get a new key. I had a 1995 Buick Regal with the same problem. I had to get a new key from the dealership. Let me know if this works for you or not. Thanks.

How do you program a new key for a 1993 Buick LeSabre

The old key has a chip in it. A dealer or key shop has a reader that will tell you the chip number. You will have to buy a blank key with that same chip number and have it cut from your old key.

Security system shut car down

man these buick dealerships are making a killing nowadays, the keys have a chip in them that helps a sensor in the steering column recognize that those are the right keys for that car, it's an anti-theft device that sometimes backfires, usaully the culprit is a damage chip in the key, because keys get thrown around and mashed up with other keys in peoples pockets, the key it self is not cheap but it is cheaper than replacing steering column. Get a new key and see if that helps, they should have provided you with a new key if they replaced the steering column and the sensor inside of it. I think dealerships aren't making enough money selling cars in this economy and are making frivolous repairs that don't help fix problems and charge a lot of money in the process
