Why when i turn on my 99 nissan pulsar and take off d battery terminal the car shuts off i change the alternator and its the same

is there spark at plugs , check the coil packs as these older cars are prone to coil pack failure and at random times , if coil pack ok is the battery holding enough charge to firstly start engine and then alternator charging enough to keep it running , hope this gives you a starting place

that's hard to say. if you have a multi meter check the battery while the car is running or at least when your turning the motor over. that's the only time you can accurately test a car batter, when its running or trying to run. if the car is jumping or surging before it turns off, that would be fuel. if its electrical, watch your lights, if they flicker when you roll a window down or start air conditioner that's a good indicator that you have a weak common, or negative. also, when the car is running turn the lights on and rev up the motor a couple thousand rpms, if the lights get more bright as the rpms go up that means you have a weak battery, or weak alternator. since its intermittent, i'm leaning towards alternator. a way to check that is while the car is running, remove the positive battery terminal. if the car is still running while you do this, the alternator is fine. at that point you should check all major wire terminations. where the wires connect at the battery, the starter, and the alternator.

Sounds like the alternator isn't charging your battery, or it could be a broken belt.

It won't run without a battery, It won't run without the alternator either. I am thinking the battery is dead, or not charging, even the new alternator doesn't mean it is good, Get the battery tested for electrolyte level and voltage, get the alternator tested or at least see if the voltage goes up with with the engine running. Not running, check the terminals on the battery, make sure they are squeaky clean. Voltage above 13+ V. All 6 cells good, check it out. hope this helps.

I have same/similar problem.... if this problem happens off and on... runs well one day and next day is jerky-stalling then it's more than likely your airflow meter

The alternators for Pulsar and Sentra have not changed much over the years. However, the 1987-88 alternators for Pulsar and Sentra have a different internal diode assembly.

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Disconnect the 2 lead wires and connector from the alternator.
3. Loosen the drive belt adjusting bolt and remove the belt.
4. Unscrew the alternator attaching bolts and remove the alternator from the vehicle.

To install:

1. Install the alternator and retaining bolts loosely.
2. Install the belt and connect the wiring.
3. Adjust the belt as outlined in . Torque the retaining bolts to 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm).

The alternator it self is bad internal not the regulator!

if it is a factory fitted radio your local dealer will be able to find it on computer. You will need chassis number

Have a look at the main wire that comes from the battery, sometimes they run from the battery to a conector that corodes and then you loose all the power to the fuse box, that same bad conection can cause the alternator not to charge the battery and than you replace the alternator not fixing the route cause
