SOURCE: hard to start chevy 350 vortec

You will need to do a fuel pump pressure leak-down test, the pump must not loose more than 5 PSI overnight, u will need a cheap fuel pressure test guage, the test port is on the fuel supply rail to the injectors on the intake manifold, it looks like a tire valve but metal with a plastic cap on it, u may be able to borrow this guage from Kragen, Autozone or a parts store like them, if not they are very cheap, less than $20 US. Run the engine with the test guage hooked up, turn off the engine and then check it in an hour or so, if it drops more than 5 PSI then u will need to replace the fuel pump in the gas tank. One note make sure the connection for the guage is tight with no leakage or the test is invalid

SOURCE: 96 grand am won't start!

I just went thru a similar problem. When I changed my fuel filter the problem stopped. I can't say that it is the exact solution for your problem. But it is a cheap fix if it is. You can remove the old one and tell before you buy a new one. The filter is located in fron of the gas tank. It comes off easily. If its clogged then replace it. ( I recommend replacing it evey year anyways). There are a few other possible problems that it could be. I hope this helps

SOURCE: 1997 jeep grand cherokee cranks long time before starting

generally your problem can be traced to a faulty anti-drainback valve in the fuel pump. After sitting for an extended time fuel must be re-filled and pressurized before engine will start. Second primary cause is a leaking fuel injector which does the exact same thing from the other end of the system but, this is also accompanied by a puff of smoke after starting.
Other causes can be low comrression from engine wear, or, a weak ignition coil but these are far less common.

SOURCE: hard to start cold but once running is ok

I believe you have a throtle body correct? IF so you have poor fuel pressure, plugged filter of injector. If by some miracle you have a carberated engine the the fuel is leaking from the bowl. Get a carb rebuild kit.

Have an 89 grand wagoneer it will run fine but it will shut off and wont start to it has cooled down i am going to replace pickup coil!fuel pump.and e c u any suggestions??

Before you just start spending money, find out WHY it stops.

Run it till it quits, then check the spark. If no spark then fix that.
If no fuel, then fix THAT.

An engine needs five things to run; Ignition (spark), Fuel, air, timing, compression.

When it quits, find out what of these five your motor doesn't have, and only fix that.

You could spend hundreds and still not fix it if you don't know what is really wrong with it.

1989 jeep wagoneer will not crank. Motor turns over and there is fire on the plugs. changed the fuel pump and filter. (Pump was bad) Fuel delivery is not right.

replace the crankshaft poisition sensor at the bell housing on drivers side, must be done from under the truck, very hard to see and even harder to replace, but that will be the problem..
