This is a very common issue in jeeps of this vintage. i had to use channelock pliers to get mine off so i could replace it. it helps to smear a bit o grease on the threads before you reinstall them... do not crank it up tight !!! one click is good enough

You say you changed the cam sensor. A1391 code is a crank sensor on the top of the trans. bell housing.

SOURCE: 2004 Grand Cherokee: oil pressure fluctuates

if you know for certain that the sending unit is correct and the guage is accurate, then yiu may have big problems.....while the engine is running open the oil filler hole.. is everything wet with oil? or does it look dry or just a little lubed? you can allways install an aftermarket oil pressure guage(crappy tire) if you get the same results with that then you may have a week oil pump....worst case scenerio... need an engine rebuild as the moter may have wear issues.does the pressure slowly drop as the motor warms up? at idle ? does it jump up when you step on the gas?

Gasket/O-ring bad on the oil fill cap. The fan is throwing it around where you've found the excess.

I have a 97 jeep grand cherokee 4.0 with timing marks alinged slot on distributer is off about 1/8 inch off

Two ways to deal with that. You can get a long screwdriver and turn the oil pump drive in the engine or, get the distributor in as far as it will go, then while holding light pressure on it, turn the engine by hand 'till it drops down the rest of the way. Then, re-check to make sure you have the rotor aligned correctly. (pulley back to "0" and rotor pointing to #1 on the cap...may take two turns of the crank to get there)

REMOVAL - 4.7L
The Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) on the 4.7L V–8 engine is bolted to the front/top of the right cylinder head (CMP Location—4.7L Engine).

It is easier to remove/install sensor from under vehicle.

Raise and support vehicle.
Disconnect electrical connector at CMP sensor (CMP Location—4.7L Engine).
Remove sensor mounting bolt (CMP Location—4.7L Engine).
Carefully twist sensor from cylinder head.
Check condition of sensor o-ring.
See picture for sensor location.

1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee It has recently developed a clattering on start up, or shortly there after. I am assuming it is the tappits, and am wondering if you could recommend the best additive to quiet them...

Crawl under jeep find wrench should be 16mm break drain loose place pan under plug slowly remove plug drain all oil replace plug on passenger side the oil filter is screwed on engine break filter loose spin off make sure rubber seal came off with filter spin on new filter hand tighten I think the jeeps hold 6 or 6.5 qts of oil I would sub. 1 bottle of lucas oil stabilizer. crank up once oil is added watch oil pressure guage when it rises cut off check oil add accordingly

At the dealer we recommend ( Distributor cap, rotor, ignition wires, sparkplugs, pcv valve, air and gas filter and an oil change). This is done at 24,0000 mile intervals.
It's also a good idea to check the timming.
Grease the the frontend and a general check to make sure all is tight
