Check for a 40 amp blown fuse for the BCM this controls those 2 unit. If this checks ok disconnect the BCM module and plug back in this will reset it the BCM is located under the Drivers side kick panel against the firewall. If it work after the BCM reset replace the BCM it will work only temporaraly.

SOURCE: 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Keeps stalling, engine

P0505 means the whole Idle Control system, not only the IAM. Check all related sensors (i.e. crankshaft sensor). Check with a voltmeter direct at the connector of the IAM if you get any signal. Remove the IAM from the TB, connect him, let someone switch your ignition key to ON. The IAM need to drive in/out for a short time to find the right position. Hold the IAM near a hard part, that they cant drive out completely! If IAM works fine, check the fuel pressure, check and clean your TB ( if not done yet). If that doesn't work, come back again please

What type of oil do i use in my 1999 jeep grand cherokee limited edition and my brakes sound like air is comming out of the foot pedal when ever i use them...what is messed up so i know what to fix...ty...

Hello Melani,
your jeep calls for either 5w30 or 10w30 oil If you are in colder climates run 5w30 if down south in warmer weather run the 10w30. The air noise you are referring too sounds like you have a power brake booster starting to fail. These are vacuum operated off of the engines vacuum and when you start hearing a sucking sound when pushing on pedal, this indicates the booster is leaking need to have that checked and repaired very soon. Thanks for choosing fixya Melanie and have a great Day

What would make my jeep quit running and start back later

a fuel pump can cause this as when it gets hot it may shut down and restart when it cools off.the other thing it could be something(ignition module)that when it gets hot shuts down until cooled off.

Air whistling into vehicle through brake rubber boot/seal

You should be able to replace the boot. Without seeing the vehicle, you should be able to disconnect the shaft going through the firewall and get the boot off/on that way.

Whistling from engine

This is a symptom of the inlet manifold gasket having a leak. The whistling is air going in through the small leak/hole in the gasket. With the throttle butterfly shut, air is getting sucked in the only way it can.Try tightening the inlet manifold bolts 1st.But more than likely the gasket needs replacing.Hope this helps
