There are many diagrams and pictures of the Purge Solenoid on the web. Just do a search - " 2006 ion purge solenoid location."

Put a battery charger on the starter solenoid terminal
& a good ground,charge the battery then open trunk
& replace the battery

Look in the interior fuse block. It is located on the drivers side of the center counsel, just to the right or where our right leg would be. You will need to remove the trim panel. The fuses will be labeled on the inside of the panel. This is normal down shift, if it is slight. If it is harsh then it could be a software problem or a seal problem. ie.. sticking solenoid piston. You can get some transmission additive that helps with the seals. But again if it is slight and not throwing you threw the windshield I wouldn't worry about it.
