Aftermarket modules programmed at a any rebuild company will sometimes have program clitches and will fail after e few months and they won't honor the warranty they gave you because they will state that your vehicle had a short that ruined there module not so with the dealer they check your system thoroughly before and after that's why you pay $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Pretty sure it has to be programmed to your VIN. Rather than buy at an auto parts store, check with module masters.com and find a rebuilt unit that's fully programmed to your VIN.

I have a 2009 Chevy Avalanche LS and I got the P0700 code, how easy is this to fix? where is the TCM located? If this is a dealer service how much?

DTC P0700: Transmission Control Module (TCM) Requested MIL Illumination
The transmission control module (TCM) uses the (GMLAN) to signal the engine control module (ECM) that the TCM is requesting malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illumination. This happens when the TCM has determined that a failure affecting emissions has occurred in transmission control system. When the ECM receives the message from the TCM, DTC P0700 will set.
DTC P0700 can not be cleared from the ECM until the related TCM codes have been cleared.
This is something best left to a qualified repair shop , doesn't need to be the dealer ! AMMCO could fix it . This code is telling that other codes are stored in the transmission control module . Need a professional type or factory scan tool to check these . As to how much it will cost , no telling without knowing the codes in the TCM !

I use my automatic manualy, how do i get it to go into 4 sooner so i get better petrol consumption

back off the gas pedal!
let it shift up sooner.
if the trans is TCM shifted, reprogram the TCM.
or make a liar box that lies to the TCM for speed.
(called a piggyback box in racing)
but then the speedo cluster lies.

or buy an MPG gauge
and learn how to drive again.
every car has a sweet stop , speed.
that gets max mpg.
every car made.
for many cars is 45mph. top gear, flat pavement.
driver not driving crazy.

My remote start is not working and the service engine light is on in my 09 chevy impala. what could the problem be?

The Factory remote start is disabled any time the check engine light is on. You'll need to find out what is causing the check engine light to come on by using a scan tool/code reader to read the codes stored in the computers memory.

You can buy a basic code reader for about $50 and do this yourself. You could buy a nice scan tool for $3,500 to $10,000 and again do this yourself.

You can also call your local auto parts store. Sometimes they will read codes for free. Please do not buy what every they think is the problem.

The last thing you can do is head into your local shop or dealer if under warranty and have them do the diagnostic test to see what the codes are and why they are being triggered. There is usually a set fee for this.

Some common things that come to mind that would cause a check engine light are, Low coolant temperature, loose/missing gas cap, Catalytic converter inefficiency, and maybe an O2 sensor code.

Good luck and let us know what codes you find.

Where is the TCM located on a 1998 Catera? PLEASE HELP!! Thanks Kim

Tcm is located beside the battery under a triangle shaped cover it's about 6"x8", silver colored. slides up and out. I had to buy a used one off ebay and had a GM dealer reprogram it. Bad thing is there hard to come by used. They have to have the exact same manufacture number. $100.00 to reprogram it. I shorted my tcm out trying to give some body a jump start, Jumper cable popped off and shorted across metal on the tcm and positive on the battery.
