4hi and 4lo lights flash but wont stay on

I have a 1996 Chevrolet Z71 and when i push the button for the 4hi or 4lo it just flashes and never stays on. I did what some people said and changed the actuator switch in the differential and it did nothing. When i put it in 4lo i hear a clunking noise like it kicks in but it never really kicks in. when i push the 4hi i don't hear anything. i have tried it on a hill and i know it doesn't kick in. What should i do next and will it be hard to change? please help nathan

Must be in neutral to go in 4lo. ther is a valve under the scatter shield under the motor, check that

My 2000 silverado z71 when switching to 2hi 4hi or 4lo the push button will flash and the front end will not ingage. and also have a abs light on

The 4x4 will not engage unless the ABS is in proper order the reason being. ABS cannot operate in a 4x4 engagement,and in return the 4x4 will not hi or low without the ABS concerns corrected the solution fix ABS and the 4x4 switch goes back to normal operations

I have a 1997 chevy silverado Z71 4x4. When i put it in neutral at a complete stop and hit 4HI or 4LOW the light well just sit there in flash. It stays a solid light when it is in 2wd why well it not...

Sounds like the actuator on the front axle is bad.

When i push the 4hi button the light just flashes then goes off. when i push the 4lo button it flashes but then turns soild and u can hear the 4wheel drive click in? i dont hear nothing when i push the...

my jimmy also did this i disconnected positive battery terminal for about 20 seconds and this fixed mine.

04 tahoe z71 the allwheel drive,2wheel drive,and 4hi,4lo buttons don't alwas work sometimes it's in 2wheel drive then go to 4lo and when i push the 2wheel button it just blinks and the 4lo button stays on...

Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop . Service 4X4 light's blinking . DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's stored in the 4X4 control module.

Chevrolet truck 4wd switch blinks

If they are blinking I believe it means that there are fault codes present in the pcm. You need to get the computer scaned to see if there are an codes present. If you live near an Autozone or Checker autoparts they can scan it for free.

On my 2000 chevy S10 blazer, when I push the 4HI button, the 4HI and 4LO buttons flash a yellow light and it won't shift to 4WD, stays in 2HI and the light in the 2HI button is on yellow......I hear...

vacuum leak or vacuum locker solenoid problem. a great way to check for both is to remove both vacuum lines from the solenoid (located on firewall above destributor), and put a connector between them, push the button on the dash and see if it locks in.
