Both front windows stopped working at the same time and it doesn't appear to be a fuse, could it be a relay switch? If so where would it be located in the vehicle? Both front windows stopped working at the same time and it doesn't appear to be a fuse, could it be a relay switch? i have fixed this problem on mine remove front drivers door panel trace your ground wire from window switch and make sure you have a good ground once you fix your ground you will fix your windows
remove the inner door panel,, there should be 2 screws at each end of the master switch ,, remove those,, once the panel is out, check for the retaining ( plastic tabs) clips, and remove the wiring,, Now ,, if its a single switch on one of the other doors, you can gently pry those off, keep in mind they too have wires going to them
The lock switch is designed to keep the passenger buttons from being used. It should not stop the master switch from operating the windows - or at least, that's what the 2003 Buick Century Owner's Manual says.
After studying the schematics for your vehicle, Iwould say that the owner's manual is correct. The lockout switch only cuts power to the passenger switches. The driver's (master) switch can still power the passenger windows. If none of the passenger windows work from either the driver's door switch or the passenger switches, then the master switch probably has an internal open circuit causing this. There is no separate relay or fuse. I would replace the master switch. Be sure and check ALL switches with the lock on and the lock off to verify this before replacing anything.
LOOK ON THE DRIVER SIDE AT POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH MAKE SURE LOCK OUT BUTTON NOT ON.THAT WILL PREVENT POWER WINDOWS FROM WORKING.CHECK BULBS IF OKAY BULB SOCKET CORRODED OR BROKE LOOSE WIRE AT SOCKET.ALSO TURN SIGNAL SWITCH COULD BE FAULTY.
If the master switch that controls these windows you are talking about try the switches on the rear doors first. If they work the windows the drivers master switch needs to be replaced only
No, I just took out the wood panel off of mine and open the black box once you get it out. You will be able to get access to all buttons and take them out and replace them if you need to.
I've had a similar problem with my 2003 Buick Century. In my case, the driver's side front window one day went up and would not come down. I knew that the switch was malfunctioning by sticking in the up position since the window continued up despite the fact that Iet off the switch when the window was half way up and it continued going up. I had to pull over and pull the master switch assembly from the door panel and unplug it to prevent the window motor from being damaged by the constant power feeding it after the window was up. Basically, it would have burned the motor out. I cleaned the switch and it now works fine most of the time. I still need to replace the assembly. Not sure this is the reason in your case. I would check the back window and see if it goes down with the switch on the back door panel. If it does, then you are having problem with the master switch assembly on your front door panel. Moisture from rain from the window being down during rain or dirt may have corroded the switches' contacts.
We had the same problem and we changed the master switch. But the windows still didn't work. We bought front and rear regulators off of eBay and that fixed the problem. They were easy to install.
Both front windows stopped working at the same time and it doesn't appear to be a fuse, could it be a relay switch? If so where would it be located in the vehicle?
