Question about Lotus Esprit

I have a 1986 Lotus Turbo Esprit. Power cuts off at 2300rpm. Turbo charger was frozen and rebuilt maybe not to specification. The problem persists. Any suggestions? thank you.

    Thanks for responding. No, it will not rev beyond 2300rpm. It runs fine under 2300rpm. Above that it looses power non at all.

    1986?? carb or mono point injection ,also will it rev to more than 2300rpm or is that when its losing power but it will rev to more than 2300 without any power

Have to be quick ,got to get er indoors from work,or an earbashing .right back to car talk --not exactly sure what iam dealing with here ,carb or injection ,it has a distributor if its an 86 but does it have points or a module inside the distributor or just a pick up with the module under the coil ,Also this turbo ?? someone put new bearings in?? or the rotors as well .must dash i have 5 mins to go and get the old dragon

1989 Lotus Esprit turbo, starts won't idle, shuts off after 2 seconds.
I do not know your vehicle but in that time frame a lot of cars used what is called a ballast resistor. During start it was shorted allowing the coil to output more power, once the engine came up to speed about two seconds the short was removed. Shorting simply means bypassing the resistor. I hope that helps.

Heavy steering on 1989lotus esprit
When is the last time the front end has been lubricated, just a thought. My 1991 Lotus Esprit SE also has heavy steering which is normal for these racing suspension's. Its to compensate for over steering, which is easier to do with power steering.

Wheres the hood latch on a lotus esprit 99
US models such as my 1991 Lotus Esprit SE is to the left of the steering column at the bottom of the dash. Reach down and feel behind the dash there will be a rectangular pull or pivot which releases the hood.

HI, sorry I am not closer, but the mechanics are very easy for any good mechanic, if you get a workshop manual from a UK Lotus specialist (sjsportscars). they do all parts mailorder the manual is very detailed, if you have a standard model, if you have the US high spec most race shops can tune the engine

My heater on 1995 lotus esprit s4s does not blow on the windscreen and also no heat coming from heater matrix.pipes to the heater matrix are both hot, have checked every conceivable operation of the heater...
check for linkage disconnect at damper  door

sounds like the idle air control is gummed up with carbon remove and clean

What year is the esprit? is the noise audible with the engine running car in neutral and stationary if so and it goes with you foot on the pedal it is the release bearing, this is common and often caused by incorrect adjustment on the clutch fork the correct setting is in the workshop manual.

if the performance is the same but no kick when the revs start to rise, it could be the internals of the turbo are worn out, have you had abnormal whistling from the turbo which indicate worn bearings, turbo's last around 100,000 miles before having to be rebuilt, the turbine wears out eventualy as well as the bearings
