I suggest you get one of those manuals people get nowadays to do it yourself.. Also My nephew use it to repair my car and it's totally repaired now. Here's the website he bought it from. Best Manuals
Try resetting fuel pump. I do believe the reset button is on the forward passengers side of vehicle. The button is behind the plastic shield. Reset once or twice. This hopefully will fix your problem. Look in your manual for exact placement of fuel pump reset button
The inertia switch on that model is usually down @the passenger kick panel,no need to remove the panel to access. At the top of the panel where there is a slight down slope in the panel you just reach over the top and reset the switch!
check your fuel pressure, also check to see if there is a booster pump, some ford rangers have a booster pump inline... fuel injected units need to have at least 35-45 psi some even higher around 50 psi...
first go to an auto partstore and have the code checked. most do it for free. could be coil, fuel pump, fuel filter, air filter or even a bad gas cap. but the dianogstic test should pin point the problem.
Hi..my name is Keith..and the 2 things that i know of...that will not let power go to the fuel pump is 1..the fuel pump relay being bad..or 2..that something has tripped the Inertia Switch...and it needs resetting..i hope this will help
i was once pulling a trailer with a ranger when it suddenly lost power and the engine died. turns out the problem was with the fuel shut off inertia switch. the switch is supposed to activate in case of accident. on my model the inertia switch is located in the passenger side under the glove box. dont know where yours is located. once you find it, just push the button and see if it resets. good luck.
