Tracy are you talking about the pushed that works your brake master cylinder or the push rods in your engine? You can't adjust the ones in your engine, they are adjusted by hydraulic lifters. If you have one or a few making noise the lifter isn't pumping up causing the chatter. In this is the case go to an AutoZone store and ask what they have to quiet noisy lifters. I bought some for my own truck but don't remember the name. When you walk in the door it is right there on the right and comes in a reddish looking bottle.
Hope this helps you.

  1. To adjust the push rod length, first remove the master cylinder from the power booster.
  2. Using a pair of pliers, turn the push rod adjusting not in to shorten and out to lengthen the push rod.
  3. If the push rod is nonadjustable, use shims between the master cylinder and power booster to shorten it.

I have a 1998 chevy c1500 and all three of my brake lights stay on and i have already replaced the switch with a new one

Most brake light switches have a small nib or piston/pushrod which is depressed by the pedal when the pedal returns. Many pedals are fitted with a metal plate and sometimes a plastic bung, which connects with the brake switch's pushrod. If this pushrod isn't being pushed in when the pedal returns, then the brakes are going to stay on. Check this operation carefully and please report.

Can i adjust the clutch on a 1990 model toyota land criuser petrol ute

there are only two adjustment you can make on a hydraulic clutch set up and that is pedal hight and free play. To adjust pedal hight you rotate pedal stop bolt at top of pedal assembly to adjust the hight. To adjust freeplay you loosen the lock nut at the master cylinder pushrod and turn push rod in or out to the specified freeplay then you tighten everything back up

I need the engine valve spec for a 1984 chevy 6.2 diesel. We are adjusting the valves.

VALVE ADJUSTMENTS All gasoline and diesel engines in this guide use hydraulic valve lifters, which require no periodic maintenance or adjustment. However, in the event of cylinder head removal or any operation that requires disturbing or removing the rocker arms, the rocker arms must be adjusted in order to position the pushrods to allow the hydraulic lifters to maintain zero lash. Refer to the valve lash adjustment procedure under Rocker Arms, earlier in this Section.

1990 chevy tilt streeing column .Haveing trouble

There is some adjustment. But you may have something else going on. When the tilt gets old the pivot pins get loose and the holes get egg shaped. If this is what is going on then you might me wasting your time.

Light tapping driver side valve cover in rear area 1973 chevy small block corvette engine. when engine rives up the tapping gets a little louder, the tapping is light, not a deep knocking sound.

The valves are out of adjustment or possibly a lifter is collapsed. A service manual or many sites online can provide you with information and a few different methods of adjusting the valves.

Falling loose pushrod inside 350 chevy engine 1992

you don't really have much choice but to disassemble the motor, or at the least remove the oil pan, the push rod should be in there. if you see any part of the pushrod from the top try using a magnet to retrieve it.

Roller lifter adjustment 5.7 chevy vortec 1999

Crank the engine until the mark on the damper aligns with the TDC mark on the timing tab and the engine is in #1 firing position.

To adjust a valve back off the adjusting nut until lash is felt at the pushrod. Tighten the nut until all lash is removed. This can be determined by rotating the pushrods with your fngers. When all lash is removed the pushrod will stop rotating. When all play is removed rotate the nut one full turn.

With the engine in #1 firing position the following valves can be adjusted:
Exhaust 1,3,4,8
Intake 1,2,5,7

Crank engine one full revolution - The following valves can now be adjusted:
Exhaust 2,5,6,7
Intake 3,4,6,8

Where is the adjustment for the clutch in a 1990 honda accord

Hi, The clutch adjustment is on the pushrod at the clutch master cyl. at the pedal cluster. Losen the locknut on clutch master cyl. pushrod and turn pushrod in or out to get specified stroke and height at clutch pedal. The pedal stroke should be  5.6" and the height should be  8.25".
