The emission hose routing diagram should be on a 3" x 5" sticker either on the underside of the hood or on the top of the radiator support or on the air cleaner housing cover. It's kind of a symbolic diagram but will indicate what goes where. There are very few vacuum lines on one of these so it should be pretty straight forward.

There's are two stickers on the top of the radiator. There is one at the filler cap that shows the pulley and belt arrangement and the other one shows the routing of the emission hoses with charcoal canister.

I recently changed them and it was a job when you have to crawl up and inside the engine area. But anyways, I started out by buying the E3 plugs, which don't have to be gapped and they do save a little gas plus increased in a little more power. (not much), These set me back $56. go with a basic motorcraft platinum or bosch platinum. I then removed the top engine cover, removed bolts for fuel rail and easily pulled the injector rail up (you will see to replace the o-rings on the injectors by some people, but if you're careful you don't have to.) This gives you the room you need at the back of the engine to remove the plugs. I started at the front by removing the small bolt holding the coil in place, then removing the the coil/wire with a boot removal tool. ( Again you don't need this tool, but it comes in handy at the back plugs). After removing the coil, I simply remove the plug, Apply anti-seize to the new one and install plug. I then apply Di-Electric grease to the inside of the coil boot to prevent moisture getting in. I then install the coil back down on the plug and tighten down and move on to the next.
1. you will need a swivel for the socket
2. you will need an extension, ( I use a long 8" extension)
3. Anti-Seize Grease
4. Di-Electric Grease
5. If installing a plug to be gapped it is .54
6. After installing, check for fuel leaks at the injectors.

It took me about 1 1/2 hours to replace all plugs and a dealer charges about $375. Good Luck if you need any further help get back to me and I'll help any I can.

In your Ford Expedition, the vacuum line from the intake plenum is routed through the firewall, just about dead center between the driver and passenger side. After going through the wall, it is split, and one connector goes to your heater control manifold. From there, several vacuum lines run to different a/c components, including the blend doors that divert air to your various vents.
Best way to track down a suspected vacuum leak is just to trace the vacuum lines, or listen for a hissing sound.
Does your vehicle have an automatic parking brake release? Nine times out of ten in a Ford product, THAT is where you will find your vacuum leak.

My 1998 expedition with the 5.4 triton runs rough at idle but clears up when driveing down road I know I have a manifold leak and the previous owner said it was a coil pack, however after I had advanced...

If you have a manifold leak that will cause a MASSIVE vacuum leak and make it run rough at idle only. Look at your short term fuel trims with a scanner, if they are way negative you have a vacuum leak. Fix the intake manifold leak and that will fix your problem.

yes you have a vaccum leak some where. there is a vaccum cannister attached to the battery tray so it could have corroded something or you have a one way valve that clould be bad on the black vaccum hose coming out of the fire wall goin to the engine

first cylinder on driver side . (fords cylinders number1 is passenger side so is number 2,3,4,& then on driver side is number 5,6,7,8 )

4.6 triton engine expedition put thermastat in still no heat no cold air blowing from defrost but blows on floor only

an expedition has a heater control valve, being from california the heat rarely got turned on so the coolant just sat in the core, expeditions are prone to plugging up heater cores anyway and this would be my guess as to what has happened. the fix would be to remove both hoses from the core and attach a garden hose to the core itself, see if the core will flow water in both directions, if it will, run water in both directions until it runs clear, if not replace the core, also make sure the control valve is not stuck and that the vacuum lines going to it are routed properly, finally.... make sure to completely bleed the cooling system so that there is no air trapped in the system, especially in the heater core
