Remove battery for 20 min then refit.
Be careful to fit earth terminal last and be direct with it.

SOURCE: Fueling problem on mk2 jetta cli

If your having trouble getting the fuel to go in,
it most like is the EVAP System & something
like a failed vent solenoid valve

You should have codes stored pointing in that

I got a jetta cli 1992 model. My fuel gauge fluctuates while driving. Cn sumone help cos this problem is very annoying

Simple solution is keep the tank full. What you are seeing is caused by the "free surface effect" (gasoline sloshing back and forth in your tank). If you can't keep your tank full. learn to ignore it or put black tape over it. The repair will be very expensive.

Thanks for your question @

My husband was using his code reader on my 2003 jetta and now it wont even start any suggestions?

remove the negative terminal from the battery and let the car sit long enough for any residual power to void the electrical system - This should clear the ECM (cars computer system) memory- after the system has time to reset, reconnect the negative terminal and give it a shot...It should reset the ECM however if your husband changed any settings during his scan your ECM may need reprograming

Remove the oil filler cap, start the engine, do the valves go up and down ? If yes, maybe the timing belt jumped a tooth or did you check for spark at the spark plug ?

Where do i find the fuel relay on 1991 mk2 golf?

Hi, The relays in the Golf Mk2 are in the CENTRAL ELECTRIC compartment where the fuses are found, above the fuse see that there are in the region of 8 or probably 10 relays there... I recently replaced the Indicator Flasher Relay in there as well.

Fuel box licking

vent valve or vapor canister purge valve is what I believe your referring too. You dont need to replace the complete vapor canister, just the valve itself. the valve is connected to the canister with a small 2" long rubber hose.

Does it feel like its not starting from a fuel problem? I would look at the fuel filter for the 1st culprit.
