Do not, computer will be damaged by voltage surge. Take to dealer
The answer you seek is "very carefully".
These cars are complex and very expensive to fix...
It is best not to jump start if it can be avoided as the potential to damage sensitive electronics is much greater than removing the battery and fully recharging or replacing it.
If the battery isn't completely discharged it is wise to connect a slave battery and memory saver before disconnecting the main battery.
If the memory saver and slave battery isn't available it is just about permissible to charge the main battery while it is connected. Use a low powered charger with a surge protector, an rcd and an avalanche diode protection device connected across the battery.

Hello
If this car uses the industry standard (mandated by federal law as of 96 model year up) OBD2 computer control system and I am 99% sure it does, then any OBD2 compatible scanner will read the fault codes and engine performance data from the sensors of the OBD2 system. Here is a site that has all kinds of OBD2 scanners, the price varies by how many features the scanner has and what its capabilities are. If you just want to read fault codes (check engine light on) the cheapest ones are ok, if you want to read main stream data from all the systems sensors like the O2 and all the others then you will need to pay more.
