Tail lights stopped working (keeps blowing fuse)

94 lincoln Town Car, tail lights stopped working last night, we drove home
with the hazards on. Brake lights work, as do hazards. Checking the fuses I located the culprit # 11 fuse 20amp. With the head lights off I
changed the fuse & as soon as I turned the lights on the fuse blew.
Note - with the hazards on I (one by one) took the light sockets out and
could see that all bulbs were working (hazards on) and it appears as
though (with bulbs not taken out) corrosion is not visible.
Any suggestions

Thanks
Joe

You could either have a front marker/signal lamp w/lamp grounded and causing this,remember...when tail lights are on so are your frt parking/marker lights on also..... other than that you could have a feed wire worn thru and grounding out to the frame

My 2006 Lincoln town car signature series keeps blowing the tail light fuse. Why does it blow when I turn signal light on?

Remove tail light and see if water or moisture has corroded the fittings or the wires are melted together.

Assuming thsat you are talkng about stop lights, I suggest check brake light switch (gemnerally is located on top, back side brake pedal).

Hope this helps and just keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

One of the tail light bulbs can be shorted internally.  Replace the tail light bulbs first.  Try this cheap fix first.

Tail lights

Consider what you have changed when stereo was installed. Using existing wiring is not like it used to be. The electronics has changed that. Going from fuse block is not a good thing.
Try undoing and examining wiring for damage and consider routing from battery. Cables are available for extra wiring from the battery.
