I have this unit have just been told by camping shop they catch on fire mine is 5 years old never had a problem but for safety is this true

I would check on the manufacturers website for any details, as they should have posted a warning and possibly a recall for affected products, if you can't find any info on their website you should call them, otherwise you will worry every time you use it.

yes, you meant WeLDING exhaust manifold fails
will if rusty old CAST IRON that act does fail not done by a pro.
best is buy new manufold
or
some cars have junk class super thin cast iron manifolds
and will crank no matter what you do.!!!
a real steel manifold is best.buy one


my jeep here, old, had SST manifold I6, 4.0Liter (top quality )

and loved to crack, the true cause was the exhaust tube header clamp to rear of engine block was broken.
and new one cracks in 10k miles,
the tail pipe is super long on this truck and swings hard.
my cure was to make camp 3 times stronger, I welded up myself
and went 250km miles and no failures
one more cause is the engine AFR air fuel ratio is way wrong
and exhaust manifold glows red hot. (oops, true cause here)
that also melts the CAT it glowing red hot too.
found bad FPR and super rich fuel mix.

1996 Jeep Cherokee Country 4.0L. New fuel pump & fuel filter- NO LEAKS. Ran fine for a month. Will NOT start. 1/4-tank of fuel,engine turns over freely yet will not fire. What could bee the problem?

no transmission told mine was stick shift,THEN.

lost your scan tool? OBD2,USA<all scan tools here work. that year.
the engine is EFI run (fuel + spark)

if you crank engine for 5 seconds and release the key.
it tells you DTC P03xx errors if spark is dead

100 year spark test still is valid, and same,way, . "test spark"plug
viewed and cranked, do them all not just 1.
some 4.0 have odd looking 6 coil packs YOu have that?NO.
mine had distributor. only. for spark, my 88 to 99 both

do not replace the CKP sensor on the bell housing WILLLYNILLY
or it fails. (but not this year)
some ckp have gap setting cushion on the end to set the gap
if missing that the sensor is destroyed in 1second cranked.
I will now read the manual to you. 96/4.0L inline loved by all 6cyl.

ok the CKP is PnP, no magic, no slotted holes,no calibration bumper tips, 1996 USA spec.

so got spark? test for spark first the 100 year old way
just like doing the lawn mower or a tin lizzy car.1929
do not lose distributor or spark plug wire firing order.
DO NOT(replace wire sets or plugs 1 by 1, never all at once or it now fails hard.
if the 1996 PCM sees spark hard failure the PCM then
cuts fuel 100% by hard PCM logic, rules.
crash and burn prevention.

if the TPS ground breaks it goes to 4vdc and the PCM cuts fuel 100% (called super secret unflood mode)
newer cars cut fuel for crash sensors but not this car.
cuts fuel if CKP or CMP ARE DEAD. p034X OR P035X
SCAN IT AFTER 5 SECONDS CRANKED, AND DEAD.

compression good x6 150 psi up.
spark good x6
fueling is last. always for all EFI cars, gas./

I have HY2000. SE# ends in 0000044. i cant get it to run at all, i have had it since 2008.

Any small engine repair shop should be able to fix it and get parts for it.

My 2005 dodge ram 1500 has no fire to ignition switch. Truck will not start or crank over.

Mr. Blake, no engine told.
not what fire means, ? he means RUN not FIRE!
gee if it can NOT crank then it can not start (will mine can by push started or gravity started) 6speed M/T (grin)
on all modern trucks, like we do this.
1: fuses all good
2::no crank we jumper cable jump crank it, first as all tow truck driver do. (as seen by AAA autoclub, tow service) watch them.
3: battery not dead.,charge it or have the shop load test it. or the lugs are loose and green with rust, clean them.
4: alternator not dead, well jump start it and runs but battery voltage is not 11v to 15vdc running so the ALT is dead or its HUGE 100amp fuse blown.
5:PRNDL dead, shift to N and cranking ,if good, P switch is bad.
the users manual shows how to crank it in Neutral using the brake pedal (keyon, step on brake, shift to N)
top fail is corroded battery lugs for 100 years. counting.
or left on head lamps even tie.

Have a careful look at the compliance plate. It's possible the 3 looks like a 5. The 5 speed transmission may have just been put on. Sure enough GM stopped manifacturing KBD42s in 1983.

It may be possible, but difficult and expensive, to replace. Personally, I would get a dash mat instead.

You don't say what year this is. If it's less than five years old, the dealer should be able to order these. If it is 5-10 years old, maybe they are still available, maybe not.

Older than that, search the internet. Sometimes companies like Year One will have these.

Your other option is to go to an auto upholstery shop and ask them what they can do.

The shock tower is badly rusted and I have been told it is a safety concern and is irreparable. Is this true?

It's true that it could be a safety concern depending on the amount of rust damage. It is repairable. Any competent welder or body shop should have little difficulty in making the necessary repairs to ensure that your van is safe and fit to be on the road. You may even be able to get a repalcement panel at your local auto parts store. Make some calls and get some quotes before you put your money on the table and stick with someone who welds for a living. This is NOT a repair for your local part time backyard welder. Hope this helps.

Van has fire but wont turn over.

I have had a chrysler product that did the same thing. It was the map or mapp sensor. It controls the fuel injection. My mother also had a van that had the same problem and I told her and the shop techs about dropped their teeth when a 75 year old lady told them what was broken. Good Luck
