On my 1999 Cirrus the speedometer would work sometimes and other times not. Now not at all. The cruise control always works though. I have a shop manual and found that the instrument cluster has self diagnostics. Press in the digital odometer button and hold it. Then turn the ignition on without starting. The needles will then move to different positions, then each indicator light will come on one at a time. If the speedometer needle doesn't move during diagnostics, then you need to replace the circuit board that attaches to the back of the cluster. You can order one for just over $200 at http://www.discountmoparparts.net.

2000 cirrus want change gears goes in drive and reverse inside on the dash where it tells you what gear you in all has squares around them speedometer doesn't work

Sounds like a speed sensor, I will look into that, but if the speedometer isn't working, its either cable, or electronic. Being a 2000, I'm guessing electronic. Chrysler have a lot of electronics on the transmission, as they are electronic themselves. I had an alternator go bad and my battery died, and the car wouldn't shift, it actually down shifted while driving. Have your battery and alternator checked first, then sensors. Like shift silinoid, speed sensor etc.

What does a shaft speed sencer do for a 2000 cirrus

According to Stratusphere.net, "Symptom: The car won't shift out of 1st gear. The 'Check Engine' light is on.

The speedometer doesn't work for this one. You're only able to go about 30 MPH without going above 4000 RPM.

Likely Cause #1: The Output Shaft Speed Sensor went bad.
Likely Solution #1: Replace the sensor (Part #4800879)."

The good news is that they are relatively cheap if you can install them yourself.

2000 chrysler cirrus door locks and interior lights cycling on and off and random times while driving

the deer incident is unlikely related to the problem. there are several on-board computers in modern vehicles responsible for the control of different functions inside as well as features. that includes the safety systems as well. the airbags and seatbelts have their own computer, as does the anti-lock brakes. there is a separate module responsible for storing the time of day, remembering radio presets, and the theft deterrent system...i believe the latter is causing your issue, making your doorlocks cycle inadvertently.

check the level of dot 3 oil in the reserves...remember you replaced the lines and air has gotten into it- ti may take a bit to fill caliper..
if this doesnt work there might be a problem with the brakes fluid dispersion- it regulates the amount of fluid to each wheel...

The instrument cluster on my 2000 Chrysler Cirrus doesn't work

A mechanic would test the power and ground circuits at the cluster plug, but it may be tough to fix if you can't make the problem happen on demand.

99 chrysler cirrus lxi won't shift out of 2nd, no speedometer

Had the same problem on my 1999 cirrus lxi. Replaced the output speed sensor on the tranny and topped off the tranny fluid... cleared the check engine light and the cirrus ran great. Caution...the output speed sensor reqires removal of the front left tie and plastic weatherproofing to replace. once you find it's locvation, the replacement is relatively easy.

Transmission,and speedometer,check engine light problem

I found the information,as I searched a little further on the Internet,it turns out to be a fairly common problem which is, the speed sensors with the outlet being the most common one to fail but the inlet can also, a relatively cheap fix.

Chrysler Cirrus Air Conditioner Cools Sometimes and Sometimes not

I had this problem along with my fuel gauge dropping to empty and back up to actual amount and tach worked sometime and didn't other times. I ended up replacing the Engine Control Unit (near positive battery terminal on firewall. If you read the codes out and they all have something to do with low voltage, this will solve the problem.
