If this is a carburetor model, then the carburetor most likely needs work.Have you done a major tune up?Wires, plugs, cap, and rotor.Check all vacuum hoses, and replace all the old ones that look worn out and decade. If you do all this, and does not help, have the carb, rebuilt. Also change the air filter.
Alrighty then, look for the knock sensor screwed directly into the block,I think on the passengers side, above oil pan.It looks like a large bell shaped unit.Make sure it is pluged in,and is making good connection. This acts as a ground for the ecm.It will come out by unscewing it from the block. No there is no water jacket or oil galley behind it,so there is no mess. You might have to replace it.A lot of the time they will not set a code that you can read. They will cause the car to run terrible and die at times.Check the wire all the way up to the wire loom to see if it is grounding out on the engine.Let me know if I can [email protected]

Kodey, have you checked the knock sensor yet?And the wire going to it?I think, the best I can remember,it is green in color. It Is a single wire.It may be grounding out on something,or loose connection on the knock sensor.Check it out,and let me know.>>[email protected]

I havent changed the distributor yet because it was replaced in 05.

I had the same issue with my Honda Civic, twice. The distributor needed to be replaced both times. If it's the same case with your auto, you can change the rotor, plugs and wires until you are blue in the face and it won't help. If you do need to replace it, take it from me, go with a new one instead of re-built, if you can afford it.
