I have a similar problem. After changing the oil and filter on my 1997 Malibu, my oil pressure light comes on after driving for 10 min and then slowing to idle (600 RPM). If I rev the engine to 1000 RPM while stopped, the light goes off. After about 40 minutes of driving, the light does not come on again ...even at idle.
You may not have put the right amount of oil in your car, your oil pressure sensor could be faulty, or you may have a leak.
By revving your engine, you're increasing the pressure and thus turning off the light and making the sensor think that it's at the correct pressure.
You may have a bad oil level sensor that will work properlu after the car is warm, have it check or replaced (to replace you need to drain the oil and its located on the bottom of the oil pan or the side(back to the rear) un plug the harness connector and unscrew the retaining bolt then with a pair of pliers slowly pull out with a side to side motion.
It sound like you used the wrong waight in the oil its probly to thin try a thiker one should solve the problem
example 5/10w > 10/30w

I have been using 10/30w when I change my oil and that is what I used this time as well. Yesterday I changed the oil again and went with 10/40w and it seems the problem is a little worse. This morning the oil pressure light went on a little earlier and it seemed I had to rev the RPMs a little over 1000. Maybe it is a clogged pickup screen... Any ideas?
Last week I replaced the oil pressure sensor with a new one and the problem was exactly the same... so I would think that eliminates that one. I did check the oil using the oil dipstick and it is in the range above 'add' and just below 'full'.
after driving for about 30 mins the oil light will come on when braking or when idling but goes off when driving again
