My 2004 superduty p/u my fuel gage reads emty but it is full is it a fuse that is gone?

I would suggest a bad ground. Bad ground to the fuel gauge in the instrument panel.

Could be a fuse - but often is a plug pulled off the fuel tank level sender - look at the top of the fuel tank.

Check fuses first, then I would check the wiring harness for any issues.I would say fuel issue definitely. Sometimes the pump and gauge are one unit, sometimes separate, but they share the same wiring harness.

crack open an injector line and look for fuel at that point if no fuel there, take off oil filtertype fuel filter and look to see if it has fuel in it..we had a ford f650 superduty that a driver ran empty and were forever bleeding att hthe air out of the system to restart it..on diesels the system can have no air in the lines anywhere..so if the filter is empty, fill it before installing it...saves on the starter getting hot...in extreme cases you can pump pressure into the tank up to 20 psi and force fuel up front be careful on plastic tanks though...good luck and repost please...

Fuel gage goes from full to emty all the time. when it first stated it only did it with quater tank or less.

Sounds as if the SENDING UNIT in the tank is faulty. They work by RESISTANCE, so when the contacts on the fuel guage sending unit in the tank get worn, it will send incorrect data. Typically it will say full when the actually IS full, then, when the tank is 3/4 full, it will say EMPTY, and then, as you use more fuel from the tank, the guage will go from what is REALLY in the tank, to empty, at different times.

Only solution is to remove the fuel tank, and replace the sending unit guage assembly.

When my truck is full of disel the gage works but when it starts to go down a little it starts to go crasy and then falls to emty even if it under full

the fuel sender has gone bad. you will have to remove the tank and replace it

You have a bad fuel level sensor.The fuel tank needs to come out and the sensor replaced.You don`t have to replace the pump assembly.You can get the level sensor separate.I`m not sure if the parts stores have it but I know the dealerships do.Hope this helps.Good luck.

It is either the sending unit in the gas tank or the dashboard gauge, either job poses its own challenges take your pick. If it is the gauge if you were lucky in a couple of weeks it will become unstuck in to pegged out position but that is only if it is a mechanical issue with the needle itself wedged in place.
