92 mitsubishi libero, engine surges downward in cold air, when accelerator pushed engine suffocates. difficult starting cold.check engine light on when warm, runs fine in warm weather or city driving

run fault codes to check for cam/crank position sensor. check to see if the cam shaft is turning (broken cam belt) check immobiliser operation

check coolant sensor and mass air flow sensor

limited backfeed but id try a vacume leak

Try higher octane gas, but before you do check the maunufacturer recomondation, have timing checked

possible it could be coolant temp sensor it could think its warm and not supplying enough fuel check eng light on?

this could be something in the fuel pump. As the cold motor draws more fuel, it may just be just ok for the engine, but after it is warm, it draws less and may "suffocate" it that way. Same goes for air filter, take a peek if it is not ready for replacement. Has this happened suddenly, or has it occurrend during a long perion of time?

check throttle position, fuel/air mixture, temp sensor, spark plugs, coils and exhaust gas recirculation

check the throttle position sensor. dodge is notorious for that. it may look ok, but the fault is really small but enough to cause a prob. it may or may not show a fault. a obd2 scantool may help you. most parts stores haave them.

sounds like an engine management fault it will need to go on a computer
