Look at the pulleys from the side and see which pulleys are inline with each other. Or check a rebuild book.

Why does my belt on my 1993 new yorker pop off in the rain?

Could be a couple things. All pulleys should be in line with the belt. Any pulley, like the power steering pump, or AC compressor, alternator, etc...could be slightly out of alignment causing the belt to rub and when wet it is slippery enough to pop off. Another item could be the tensioning roller "or ideler roller" is not adjusted to be tight enough to take slop out of the belt. This would make the belt lose and could also jump a pulley....let me know if any of this helps??

How to install serpentine belt 1988 ford 150

Loosen the lock bolt on the upper part of the tensioner(arrowed in black). Release tension on the belt at the tensioner(arrowed in red) by turning counter clockwise on the pulley nut as indicated in blue.
Slip the belt off the pulleys while keeping pressure on the tensioner. Refit the new belt and make sure it is properly located on all the pulleys before releasing pressure on the tensioner. Tighten the lock bolt.
The tensioner is self adjusting you just need to make sure the belt is properly seated on all the pulleys before tightening the lock bolt.
The exact position of the tensioner varies on the different engines but the routing is the same and it is always between the alternator and power steering pulleys on the gas engines.

I have a 2003 rav4 v4 and I'm replacing the serpentine belt. What do I loosen to remove the old belt and install new?

Look for a tensioner pulley. It's spring loaded to maintain tension on the belt. It's a pulley that does not spin a device like alternator, power steering pump or AC compressor. If you put a wrench on it and push it one way or another you can overcome the spring tension and the belt will just pop off. Check the belt routing diagram under the hood when you reinstall a new belt. It should identify the tensioner pulley, sometimes known as an idler pulley.

I can't seem toget my belt around the alternator, aircondition, waterpump

You should have a tensioner pulley somewhere in the belt's path. It will be mounted to the engine but not connected to anything. You need to loosen it and swing it in towards the engine to install the belt. Once the belt is in place, pull the tensioner to the outside and tighten it, but leave some flex in the belt. If the pulley wobbles or whines, you'll need to replace it, too, or it will destroy the new belt.

NOTE: If the belt still won't go on with the tensioner released, the parts guy may have sold you the wrong belt.

How do you remove the alternator on a 2.7L? How

To loosen the belt look for a pulley that isn't running anything. That is your tension pulley and somewhere either in the center of the pulley or arm the pulley is bolted to there will be a square hole that is the same size as a 1/2" drive socket. Find your 1/2" socket and put it in that hole and either in tightening or loosening position you should be able to move the pulley so the tension on the belt loosens up so you can take it off the pulley. then remove the bolts of the alternator and the wire plug and you got it whipped.

Belt between water pump & alternator squealed and popped off - di

You could have the wrong size or the serpentine belt was routed wrong. Double check the routing and the length of the belt, the other thing to that is know to happen is the belt tension pulley has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Recap, check the routing of the belt, belt length, tension pulley for any damage. Good luck and hope this helps.

Serpentine belt popping off

ONE OF THE PULLEYS ARE WORN OUT AND NOT ALIGNED PROPERLY WITH THE OTHERS. LOOK AT THE TENSIONER AND IDLER PULLEYS. ONE OF THESE COULD BE THE CAUSE. REMOVE THE SERPENTINE BELT AND ROTATE THE PULLEYS BY HAND TO SEE WHICH ONE IS EITHER SQUEAKING OR LOOSE ON ITS BEARING. REPLACE THE BAD ONE AND YOU SHOULD BE ALL SET. HOPE THIS HELPS. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA. GOOD LUCK
