Have a BMW certified mechanic check the cars computer I had a similar problem on a 528i the chip for the transmission had gone bad and bridging the chip allowed the transmission to shift properly if this is the case replace the chip.
A common failure on this chassis is that the small plastic gears, that drive the recline gearbox, strip and break. These are not available from BMW .... you must buy a complete seat base frame and gearbox assembly ($$$$). Call Bavarian Autosport at 800-535-2002, they offer custom replacement gears for this.
hello jimandsuecla, you could potentially have a trans torque converter that is staying engaged. If the converter does not release, it would be similar to slowing down a manual transmission in first gear and not pushing in the clutch. You could also potentially have an idle valve that is sticking/binding and not responding enough to change in rpm and load. Does the car stall when the a/c is on and when the a/c is off? Have you had any shifting concerns. What is the current idle rpm reading while in gear with the a/c on or off?Any additional info will be helpful. Thanks
