I have a 95 nissan altima and there is a problem with my hazards..They keep going off and on. THey stay on for about 30 seconds then go off for about 10 then come back on. The hazard button is not on and the fuse for the hazards is out. It also locks my car doors when they start blinking on. Any ideas????

Hi Bart, check your screws holding the hinges that hold the truck, could be loose or bent, also check your rubber weather stripping around truck and make sure nothing is binding it.
Its probably back-firing in the intake - which means it is firing early or the fuel mixture is very lean. This engine uses a distributor cap and rotor, so I would start there and make sure the cylinders are firing correctly. If the ignition checks out ok, it could be a problem with the cam timing.

Install the cylinder head bolts and torque in sequence as follows:
Step 1: 72 ft. lbs. (98 Nm).
Step 2: Completely loosen all bolts.
Step 3: 26-32 ft. lbs. (34-44 Nm).
Step 4: plus 90-95 degrees clockwise.
Step 5: plus 90-95 degrees clockwise.

Your anti-lock brake system is supposed to do exactly what it says.....keep your tires from locking up.So if everything is operating properly, then no, it will not leave huge skid marks.Yes however there will be very slight skid marks, every car takes a second to determine when to disengage the brakes, but you will not ever be seen sliding around a corner like a Dukes of Hazard brother.I hope I could help..Thanks, rate me accordingly.
How long do they stay on. On most of the newer vehicles there is a 'convienance" lighting function that allows you to exit your vehicle and have light to get into the house before they shut off. This is usually anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 1/2 minutes, depending on the manufacture. If you turn off the light switch before turning off the engine they should turn off immediately.
Lets keep it simple if the wiring harness is in good condition lets not look at that... first check your fuse if the fuse is good... check for power... if you have power coming and going from the fuse then check your brake switch ( located under the dash) attached to brake pedal. Please make sure your light bulbs are both good also. If your brake light switch is good and you have tried everything else it is either going to be in your 4 way switch or wiring harness
1st I have to ask, it the oil clean and full, with a new filter? I know, it is. Just have to make sure.
2nd There is a sending unit for that vehicle that may be malfunctioning.
3rd you may have a weak oil pump. The only real test for this is to have your mechanic tap directly into the sending unit port with a manual oil pressure guage.
Obviously if the pum is bad it will need replacing which is unfortunately a costly venture.
thanks I will see if that helps fix it!!!
