Couple things.
Temp. sensor may be shot, which usually tells fans to kick on at appropriate temp. Fan may be physically shot from usage. With car OFF, see if you can spin blade FREELY. It shouldn't turn hard at all, if so, fan bearings shot. Hard to say if MIL is related to this.

without car here, its kinda hard, but...
I would do a couple things. To verify no power to fans, take two jumper wires, plug, or touch the two terminals on fan, and clip other ends to battery posts, or aux. battery. Fans should kick in.
If a/c is inop. The coolant temp sending unit (that I mentioned before)
is suspect. That sending unit would also control a/c operation by cutting it off when temp. problems exist. So if send. unit is broke, it isn't showing proper temp for a/c to get the o.k., or to tell fans to kick on when they should.
sending unit on opposite side of engine block from serpentine belt on intake. $20.00 for Haynes manual is great investment, and would show you component location.

2002 Grand Prix SE console parkling light stays on and highbeams inop.

  • You may have a short to another hot wire. Try removing other fuses to see if any of them affect the dash lights. This will help you to identify which circuits are affected and locate where the short or cross wiring may be. Look under your dash for any melted wiring.
  • Obtain a manual for your car that has a wiring diagram. Haynes or Chilton's are good repair manuals.

2002 Lincoln LS overheating

Hi there:Are you check coolant level? Also, there some TSB about some vehicles Lincoln LS 2001-2002 may exhibit an engine overheating condition and/or the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may also be illuminated with codes P1285 and P1299 stored in memory. This may be caused by an inoperative Hydraulic Cooling Fan (HCF). Ask your dealer about TSB Article No. 01-21-11 / 10/29/01.
Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

P0481 on grand prix 2002. cooling fans work with a/c on and relays seem ok. vehicle temp gauge opertaes ok and does not seem to get hot.

sounds normal, the fans were made to run continuous w/ ac running, but on sensor when ac is off. if car isn't overheating, the fans are probably running from time to time ,but your just not catching them running
