It sounds like you may have several problems. If you cracked the fuel filter line loose and you have no fuel at all that means you are either out of gas or have an internal leakage problem. Generally the fuel accumulator will go bad(3rd component at fuel filter/pump package). There is also a check valve in the pump or the fuel injectors have been known to leak the fuel pressure down. As far as the fuel pump you should be able to have someone sit in the car and turn the key to position 2 while you listen at the rr of the car to hear if the pump comes on. During start up it only runs for a few seconds to build up fuel pressure before engine fires up. There are 2 wires on the pump. They will be marked + and -. Take a volt meter and run one lead to + and the other to a good ground you should have power at all times when the key is in pos. 2. Next put a lead to the neg. and to a good ground and see if you have volt. Remember to cycle key because the relay will only run pump until pressure is good. Pumps have been known to fail and eat up voltage. See next if the continuity changes with an ohm meter on the ground side when the key is off. You should have an open with key off and a 1 to 3 ohm circuit with key on. The fuel pump is located behind in the rear firewall.there are 2 black relays one labeled klima(climate control) the other is the fuel pump relay(it may say kick down on it because it also grounds the knockdown sol. at the transmission). circuit 30 is hot at all times and circuit 87 is for a consumer(fuel pump) you can take a fused bridge sire and bridge circuit 30 and 87 and the fuel pump should start running and you should be able to start the vehicle. If this is the case replace the relay. As a general rule of thumb I usually do the pump too but I know they are expensive.Good luck I hope i have been helpful.

I have a 1991 ford Escort and it's not getting gas! I have replaced the relay fuses and about 4 mouths ago replaced gas pump. I need to know how to test gas pump whith out takeing it out!

you have to put a pressure gauge on the fuel rail it will tell you if the pump it working most of the time you will find a fuel pump prime wire near the fender most of the time its by the battery. green wire end that you can put a spade terminal into you can put 12 volts to this and it will energize the fuel pump. also make sure your wires to the pump are good. I can't count how many times I have torn into a fuel problem to find out its a bad plug at the pump.

Need to know the location of the following items. ECM, fuel filter and relay switch.

Whats the issue?

The fuel filter is located along the inside of the drivers side frame rail about under the drivers seat area. If you are having fuel issues it would be a lot issue to check for power at the pump. This will tell you that everything is fine up to the pump. The pumps are well known to fail.

My 90 astro van wont start its not getting any gas could it be the fuel pump Ive checked the fuel filter

First find out if your getting power to your fuel pump while cranking. If not then you must trace where the power stops and fix that. The's a way to jumper power to your fuel pump but thats only for testing purposes you still must find what's not telling the fuel pump to turn on.

No fuel

Be sure you have checked the impact safety switch. Your owner's manuual should tell you where it is if it has one. This switch kills the power to the fuel pump after impact. It has a push button reset. Check for voltage at fuel pump to rule out having to change the pump again.

No fuel at tbi

Check the relay to your fuel pump to make sure the pump is getting power. Check the fuel pressure to make sure the pump is putting out enough presure. Change the Fuel filter if everything is ok. The only other thing i can think of is the fuel injector it self is not getting power. Good luck.
