This isnt just a simple plug in and go job. You actually have to take a piece out of them ecm and install in the new one.

If your not experienced in this, I would suggest having someone with more experience do it.

You can easily destroy the new ECM and more if your not very carefull.

Btw, I’m available to help over the phone in case u need at https://www.6ya.com/expert/sean_54c3a3dc48a7773c

Cant find my reverce 1997 caviler

Check your owners manual for the correct shift pastern...It is a natural H pattern, with 5th gear upper right...reverse should be all the way to the right and lower right to engage...the knob does not always indicate the correct pattern...may have been changed...also be sure it is a 5 speed...most of these Cavaliers were 4 speeds...with reverse being upper right instead of 5th gear upper right...confirm in your owners manual if possible...will show illustration...Hope this helps.

Diagram for engine timing for a 3100 Chevy V6

It's on TDC so align marks on cam shaft and crank shaft with center of cam & crank shafts and the ECM will go from there. so you will have to change the timing chain if its loose or worn out.

MY DAUGHTER HAVE A 1997 CHEVY CAVILER. AFTER IT SIT UP FOR AWHILE, IT WANT PICK UP SPEED. WE HAVE HAD THE OIL CHANGER TIMING CHAIN DONE. WIRES CHANGE, NEW FAN PUT IN AND SPARKS PLUG CHANGED BACK IN MARCH.

You need to remove the fuel line and blow back into it to remove any debri that has collected around the fuel pick up. Be sure the fuel filter under the car is changed as well and the fuel filter on the firewall. Also fill the tank and put 2 quarts of rubbing alcohol in the fuel tank to dry up any water.

Car Starts Really Rough.

Check the fuel/air sensor and air filter. When you first start the car only press the accelerator pedal once. If while turning the ignition switch you here a grinding noise that would be your starter going out. The smell of fuel signals that your car is either flooded from pressing pedal or fuel mixture is incorrect. Hope this helps.
