If you have a high idle and lunging...that usually happens when there is a leak on the intake manifold side allowing more air to get in, then the computer senses the increase in air and adds more fuel. There in turn has to be one more failure in the system to allow the idle to run away, may be a tps sensor (throttle position sensor) or something down the line.

I have a 96 bonneville that has a high idle, starts around 1500 n goes to 3000 it kinda jumps to about 200 rpm up and down sparatically, when i drive for a bit and come to a complete stopit drops to about 800rpm, i replaces tps sensor, idle air control sensor cleaned throttle body and nothing , any suggestions
I usually disconnect the battery for 1hr and it usually works
