2002 lancer all lights work but the brake lights don't turn on

Sounds like a short in the brake light switch test it replace it.

does the high mounted stop light work? if so, the turn signal switch may be bad. the brake light signal runs through the brake light switch, there was a recall 08V231000 for some of these models, call the dealer and have them check if there is an OPEN RECALL on your truck. . as for the hard starting, check fuel pressure , if its not at least 60psi, it needs a new fuel pump and filter.

The first step is to check the bulbs in the tail lights. The brake light switch (on the brake pedal) is OK, as the center light works.

If right side bulbs are replaced and working and problem persists,,,, Beat on horn violently and vigorously while turning steering wheel to variouse positions

PULL THE RELEASE HANDLE AT THE SAME TIME TRY LIFTING UP ON YOUR EMERGENCY BRAKE PETAL,,, NOW DOES IT GO OUT !!! OR THE SWITCH UNDERNEATH THE HANDLE IS OUT OF AJUSTMENT....

UNDER BRAKE PEDAL OR ON BRAKE PEDAL

replace the mass air flow meter.Most common fault with the check engine light on.Good luck

Check the fuse, if the turn signals are working in the back, the bulbs are ok. If the fuse is good, check the brake switch, it's under dash, near the top of the brake pedal. Either the button is stuck and not popping out when the brake pedal is pressed, or the switch is bad.

Are the bulbs good? And i highly doubt your ecu has taken a ****. Check the wires going in are they tight in their connector or are they loose ?

it could be the bulb socket itself. i had that problem i had the same problem but the opposite. i just replaced the bulb socket and now it works.
