The starter location cannot hardly be seen from an engine overview, however if you first remove the battery then the air duct you will discover the starter/solenoid to the far left next to 3-4 sensors.

Nissan Maxima wont start

Two relays must close. One for security system and one for neutral safety. Check both circuits. Is there a security light flashing?

I have a 1996 nissan maxima, lights, radio, and everything else works but the car won't crank. We replaced the starter ourselves but it still can't start. What else could be the problem?

Try swapping the starter relay with the wiper relay(they are in a fuse box, located under the hood). If it starts, your starter relay is bad.

Does not start. the startter doe not even clkick.

Check with battery tester that battery is good. If it is not, you will get only light power but not cranking power. If you have a bad starter relay or your cable connections are not metal to metal contact will also cause this to happen. Check connections on solenoid and take a screwdriver and jump screwdriver across solenoid terminals to see if starter turnns over. Power must be on.
