p0341 on a scanner means something is wromg with the camshaft position sensor have it checked
SOURCE: The low coolant light stays on in my 2002 monte carlo
Ur coolant level sensor might need changing. If not, the circuit associated with the coolant level sensor needs to be inspected

That slushy brown stuff is signs of a blown head gasket. Have a code scanner hooked up to find out why the light is on, it will probably show coolant temperature sensor. Just out of curiosity, check the pvc valve (if your car has one), and see if it's clogged. If it is replace it, the crank case is not getting ventilated.
SOURCE: cooling fans wont turn on
Hello. I understand your frustrations as I too own a 2001 monte carlo and have had the same problem...along with several others. My engine temp gauge would show ZERO degrees because of the bad coolant temp sensor. So I replaced it with one from autozone (BIG MISTAKE) The one from autozone was **** and gave the car a different problem. The fans would not run while the engine was running and would run when the engine was off until the battery rundown protector would shut them down. this lasted about 2 weeks during which I had to keep my heater on (in the middle of summer) to keep my car from over heating because my fans wouldnt run. The autozone jerks said "if my temp gauge was working then the sensor was doing its job" and that "there is another problem" Well I finally called the dealership and they told me that autozone is junk and to try advance auto parts and to get the next one up from the cheapest...this is what they use...and NASCAR uses. It was a few dollars more (around $25) Problem solved. However a few months later the cooling fans went completly out..this was due to them experiencing such high temperatures for 2 weeks. I replaced them with ones from a salvage yard for $50. Dont let this happen to you...

Are you certain that this malfunction is electrical and not mechanical? Have you verified the engine is running at normal temperature? Have you verified the coolant system is full, serpentine belt is undamaged and tight, thermostat is opening and closing at the correct temperature and the electric fan is turning on when needed? Do you own an infrared Thermometer? If not please order one. Amazon has them for as low as $16. and it will make testing much easier. Please write back with more diagnostic information. Please verify the engines temperature to the sensor's readings. There are many things to look at and consider. Please take notes, write your findings down and write back. Things to look for: Sludge, contaminants or bubbles in coolant, coolant leaks, damaged belt, water pump or thermostat, collapsed or pinched hoses and poor or no circulation. Hope to hear from you soon. Feel free to write back with any questions. Good Luck.
I did all of these steps like you said and I went back to old school I took the positive battery cable off letting the computer in car to reset itself and is working good
