Replacing front rotors

Trying to get front rotors off to replace but it looks like I have to disassemble the hubs to do so. Got the pads, calipers, etc off just fine but struggling to figure out how to get the rotor off. Any ideas?

You do have to dissasemble the hubs because the rotors bolt on to them. if it is two wheel drive take the center caps off of hubs remove the spindle nuts and bearings pull complete hub assembly off and unbolt rotor from hub. if it is four wheel drive you will have to remove the lockout assembly be careful not to loose any parts from this it won't work when put back together.

How to chang front rotors on 2000 Toyota Avalon

should be as simple as remove the wheel, remove brake caliper, remove rotor. some rotors and I believe Toyota is one of them have machined threaded holes in the rotor where you can thread a bolt to sort of press the rotor off the hub. however there are some rotors that are part of the hub. I don't believe I have run into one on a light duty front wheel drive vehicle but none the less common sense would tell you to use caution when removing the rotor and not cause damage to parts but over exerting force to remove. re assembly is reverse of disassembly. when putting on new rotors I always use a sanding disc or some emery cloth to put a swirl pattern on the rotor surface and scuff the new pads. speaking of pads in order to replace the pads you may need to have a special tool to press and rotate the caliper piston back into the caliper (thanks Toyota). I believe it is easy to find at auto parts store. hope I have provided some help to you.

I cant get the front rotors off on my 05 caddillac cts

removed caliper and pads removed caliper mount if in way
rotor should free float on hubs they may be rusted tight to hub
if you are replacing them just hit them in the central part (around lug nuts studs)
they can be stuborn to free up
if you were reusing them you will need a puller to pull them off
if your replacing them have a look at the new ones you will see how they free float

On my 2006 Corolla removed the caliper bracket, but there is a star shaped bolt in front of the rotor. Just read where this bolt dosen't need to come off but not convinced. Could anybody confirm that? ...

If you are trying to remove the rotor then this bolt is holding the rotor to the hub bearing. If you are just replacing the pads then this does not need to be removed.

Front right tire makes a grinding noise , hub assembly has been replace problem stills there, what will be the problem?

It could be a lemon replacement hub or it could actually be the tire. Check the tires tread for irregular wear patterns. If the hub was loose prior to change this could easily cause the tire to wear in a "choppy" fashion which can also cause a rough humming sound that I have often heard customers refer to as a grinding sound.

Noise coming from front brakes or wheel ,i change brake pads

Did you have the rotors turned? Did you check for rotor runout? Did you remove all rust from hub face and rotor mounting surface? Did you remove rust from caliper or pad slides? Lube all caliper and pad sliding surfaces? Are the pads application specific? Did you flush and bleed the fluid? Did you torque the wheels properly?

Replacing front rotors and pads 2006 grand cherokee

Why would you put tape on the rotors when doing brakes? Once calipers are removed, rotors come right off. Never saw any seal on rotors and don't know what a seal would do there....Unless it's put there on assembly line to keep rotor from falling off? I wouldn't be concerned.

Front brake shimmy

I would try replacing the rotors altogether. If after resurfacing them your getting .010 runout on them in a few days, those rotors are getting soft.
Also, check the rotor mating surfaces, ie, where the rotor touches the hub when installed, and make sure it is clean and smooth. Any rust or brake dust buildup on the hub will prevent the rotor from sitting flush to the hub. I would also recommend replacing the brake pads, if you do the rotors, as the pads could have worn unevenly due to the rotors being warped.

2004 Toyota Camry Brakes

Raise the vehicle up and remove the rims & tires

Remove the brake pads, and then remove the calipers from the caliper retention brackets, do NOT remove the brake hoses from the calipers.

Remove the caliper retaining brackets from the hub assemblies (2 large bolts on backside of the bracket)

Tap the brake rotors off of the hubs, hit them from the back side of the rotor.

No big mysteries here, this is a very easy job.

Replacing front rotor

after removing the wheel &caliper depending on rust build up you may need to hit the rotor between the wheel studs this may take some time after removal check for rust build up on hub remove rust with hammer, sanding&scraping put some anti seize lube around hub making sure no rust is caught in between depending if you are replacing the pads you have to push the caliper piston back with a large pair of chanel lock pliers or suitable tool, then you can reassemble.thanx from schleck
