I have a 1994 ford f-150 5.0 with a serpintine drive belt. the engine is out of a ltd car. he said it was getting hot. i found out that the water pump is spinng the wrong direction. how do i change it to run the other way? If i run the belt the way the 1994 ford f-150 5.0 diagram shows it spins the water pump backwards?

If in fact it is pumping the coolant backwards then it should also be getting hot maybe not overheating but good and hot for sure the only senseable soultion is to switch the drive belt to turn the pulley in the oppsite direction...@ least this way you`ll know if it was pumping backwards or not.... Question? how did you come to find the pump running backwards??? to switch the pumps flow direction..... most likely, you`ll need a longer drive belt to do this... because you dont want to switch the direction of any other part like the alternator or smog pump....so probably you`ll have to go most of the way around the water pump pulley to accomplish altering its direction . I`ve seen this exact problem before, but on a mustang 5.0ltr with the aftermarket performance pulley upgrade..... even the pulley route sticker (provided by the pulley upgrade company) was incorrect....
so be careful and make sure you test..... only when the vehicle is cold I recommend removing the thermostat prior to altering the serp.belt route...this way you can see the difference instantly...you may also find that a stuck thermostat could cause the appearance of the coolant flowing the wrong direction....boil the thermostat in a pot on the stove until the water is @ a good rolling boil....this is a grerat test for the thermostat you can clearly see a full open thermostat(GOOD) or no change in the thermostat indicating (BAD) replace defective and recheck coolant flow direction
i hope all this helps if you need anything else just ask Good Luck & be careful

2004 Ford Taurus water not circulating

DON'T run the engine for too long if your getting steam. That will risk over heating problem putting other engine parts at risk of damage.
How are you testing for circulation? Coolant systems are usually pressurised when the engine is running so a pressure leak somewhere in the system could be the problem, The bleeder valve could be part of that.
Try checking the basics first. Do you have enough coolant in the system? When the thermostat opens, the coolant level can drop.
Check the routing of the belt for the water pump. Sometimes if the belt is set up wrong it can spin the pump backwards causing issues.
There are also times where a new part can be faulty. I had this happen with a new wheel bearing that lasted just 150 miles before it started making noise like it was going to fail.

2000cadilac devile just replaced serpintine belt now car wont start ,just clicks..take off serpintine belt and will start r i ght u 0 what could it be???

Most likely one of the things that the belt drives is frozen. Check that your water pump, power steering pump, alternator, etc all turn without the belt.

Where is the water pump?

Locate your serpintine (fan) belt. Your water pump will be right behind this belt bolted to your engine block.

Cant find drive belt tensioner bolt to loosen serpintine belt

The serpentine belt tensioner / pulley is on the front of the engine, and part of the belt 'routing'.

Its job is to put tension on the belt as it drives the other devices like the power steering pump, water pump, air conditioning compressor.

It is an aluminum casting that mounts with a single bolt to the engine. The pulley is attached to the arm.

There are a few ways to move / pry the arm inwards, thus releasing the tension on the belt for removing/installing: grab on the pulley bolt (15mm?) with a wrench, or some later models have an opening for a 3/8th socket wrench to attach to directly without a socket.

A belt snapped, leaked antifreeze and no power steering

If it was the timing belt, the car would have quit right then and there.
It's the belt that drives the fan, water pump and power steering.
Probably what they call the serpintine belt.

1994 serpintine belt broke

it is a little tricky to do but doesnt take a whole lot of time if you have the right tools.. you would not make it very far withou the belt because your water pump would not be working and over heat the car also the alternator would not keep your battery charged and you would have no power steering
