A/c blows cold but comes out of the defroster instead of dash

I have a 1993 GMC Jimmy that blows cold air when the a/c is on, but it automatically alternates between the vents, floor vents, and defroster. it didn't used to but now it does all on its own.

Vents won't blow hot or cold air. Comes from defrost and feet when you put fan on.

It's the vent actuator, it moves the baffle that changes the direction of the air flow.
Here is a video of a broken vacuum hose that creates the same problem.

It could also be a failed actuator.

My 2000 jimmy has heat problems. the heat goes from cold to hot to warm to cold etc. what could the problem be?

If the temp gauge is now more stable, the problem is in your heater system, not the engine cooling system.

My 2007 grand marqis only blows hot air from the defroster vents. will not blow any cold air. Need help before spending a lot of money taking out the dash.

If you have electronic automatic temperature control, press and hold off and floor buttons at the same time, with key in the on position, then release and press auto for 1 second.this will put system into self test. If numbers come up,152-52-32- 132-or some code, Google it..most likely the blend door actuator, some have found a way to do it without removing dash at s much lower cost.

Air conditioner on 1993 gmc jimmie doesn't blow out cold air. The fan runs however the clutch on the air conditioner unit won't kick in

if clutch isnt kicking in, there only could be two things.....electrical issue(test the clutch connector for voltage, relays etc.), or low or no freon(have it vacuum tested if voltage is fine). Hopefully this helps
